Im not nostalgic but if anyone wanted this card ( which still works afaik) make me an offer

DOes anyone else remember voodoo cards and love them like i did /do?

Does anyone else still have their old cards and machines?

Indeed I do. I have a Voodoo 3 3000 here still in it's box. It has got me out of one or two pickles I can tell you! Had the voodoo card originally, the one you had to pair with a VGA card.

yeah i remember my first ever PC had some ATI card i cant remember and it sli'd to a voodoo. they were PCI and you did the SLI with a tiny vga type cable out back of one and in the voodoo. Superb.

I often wondered what the ribbon connector on the card was for i never found anything that connected on it.

I had a voodoo 3 too, that must be back around 98... I went out and bought one as soon as they were released and they rocked. Unreal Tournament in glide was unbeatable in those days.

I replaced the Voodoo 3 with a Voodoo 5 which was awesome... but thanks to bad management 3DFX screwed themselves over and went bust.. allowing nvidia to pick up the scraps at a bargain price... and they screwed over all 3DFX customer by refusing to offer any support... I still dislike nvidia to this day because of that, and it's why I always buy ATI video cards. :)

But nothing could beat a couple of Voodoo 2 cards back in the days... I think my first ever card was some 8mb nvidia rage peice of crap.

And yes... I am aware that it says I have an nvidia 9600GT in my rig, but that's because it was prebuilt aria system with one already fitted... and I'm about to replace it with either 5770 or 4890... can't decide which... more performance or dx 11.

FlasH is selling a 5850 for around 150 quid i belive, i would get that because its only around 20-30 quid more than a 5770 but ir depends on what one you get i suppose

THAT was the SLI connector. the little VGA cable was just the VGA passthrough so the 2D card could still do it's thing until you fired up a 3D game at which point the Voodoo kicked in.

SLI was (as it is again now) where you had 2 3D cards, AND the 2d card.

I had a VooDoo 2 8Mb and an S3 Virge DX 2d card. if i wanted to SLI it I'd have had to have got an identical creative 3D blaster 8Mb (this is where a lot of the current confusion comes from, that in the old days you needed identical cards, which isn't necessarily the case now)

I loved my Voodoo2. it was such a transformation after playing quake 2 and unreal (the first) in software rendering.

I remember fitting my first VooDoo 2 SLI, was it called an accelerator card or something ? and I think it was just connected to a normal PCI card with a VGA lead

my first card was the RivaTNT2 which I believe was Nvidia's direct competition to this card? Kept me going from 1999 'til 2003 and didn't show any signs of stress at all! (it's still chigging away to this day)

The voodoo 6 never made it to retail, neither did the Voodoo 5 128mb model, although there are a few reference boards out there... seen the odd one pop up on ebay in the past.

I'm pretty sure I've still got the voodoo 5 in a box somewhere, minus one of the fans which was borrowed for a Radeon 8500 when that fan started playing up.
