Hi Guys, sure you get asked this a lot, but can anyone see any problems with this build? any other advice also appreciated, it's been more than 10 years since I last put a PC together...

Titan Fenrir Special Edition CPU Cooler (AM2/LGA775/LGA1156/LGA1366)

1x £46.99
Geil 6GB (3x2GB) PC12800 1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Kit

BenQ G2420HDBL 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black
1x £152.74
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
1x £150.39
Zalman Z7-Plus Gaming Midi Tower Case - Black
1x £50.51
LiteOn IHOS104-37 4x Internal Blu-Ray BD-ROM SATA Drive - Black

I think I'm okay, but not totally convinced SLi is the way to go, and want a double check to ensure the case will hold and power it all.

I would get a different PSU mate.

It won't handle 2 x GTX460, well it might but i wouldn't risk all the money your spending on it.

I would use that as a minimum really.

yeah get yourself a branded one corsair or OCZ being the most popular

i would also change the hard drive to a samsung F3 drive

I would get a corsair or xfx psu. Both are very good. The arianet PSU's are re branded generic ones.

Good solid build there mate, only thing to change is the power supply and maybe your SSD to something great all round rather than fast read/average write - the OCZ Vertex (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Hard+Drives+%28SSD%29/OCZ+Vertex+2E+60GB+2.5%22+SATA-II+Solid+State+Hard+Drive+%28OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G%29+?productId=40832) might be a better choice

okay, so swap out the power supply for a branded one. would 650watts be enough?

I also realised I may have to drop the SSD to allow enough money for things like win7 pro (I need xp compatibility) speakers, keyboard and mouse.

oh, and somehting I'd like to do, but never seen any equipment for is have 2 sets of controllers. The PC would sit in my office upstairs and everything will be normal there. However in the living room I have a 1080p pojector and so it would be great to have a second keyboard/mouse which I can turn off when they are not in use (so the kids can't mess me about while I'm working...) Any advise on how to do this?

I'd say 650w might be a bit low with 2 * 460's , it will probably handle it but it will run a bit hot and so noisier and won't leave much headroom for future upgrades

also note the LiteOn IHOS104-37 does not burn in any format it is a pure reader only

money wise I'd say you would be better dropping 1 of the 460's and picking up a 2nd one when money permits

I've swapped the power supply, HD and SSD, added in sound and windows. I'll need a mouse and keyboard, but those are items I want to see and feel before buying so will be the local PC store for that.

Now I just gotta explain to the bank manager why I'm spending so much money.

I'd have said the onboard sound would have been fine, your certainly not going to notice any difference between the onboard and that cheap creative card

yeah, thats true, and you should also get a modular one like the xfx:

http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/XFX+750W+Black+Edition+Modular+Power+Supply+?produ ctId=39859

or

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/Modular+700-950W/Corsair+HX+Series+750W+Modular+ATX2.2+SLI/Crossfire+Compliant+Power+Supply+?productId=36021

personaly, i would get the xfx because its 80+ silver vs the 80+ bronze, and they are both seasonic units inside anyway.

In regard to remote control - You need a KVM switch for the remote Keyboard and Mouse, but then you will have to watch the distance over what your operating, unless you have a PS3 or a Sumvision Cyclone MKV 1080P HD Media Player (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Sound+and+Vision/Media+Players/Sumvision+Cyclone+MKV+1080P+HD+Media+Player+?produ ctId=38324) and you network them to stream your movies then you remove the kids from your pride and joy altogether :)

No you wouldn't, you can plug in 100 mice if you wanted and they would all work.

I'm not too worried about modular PSUs, a PC is there to work, not look pretty, and I only have to open it up and build it once :p

so, done some more checking, few minor tweaks to take advantage of deals and think I'm settled. Many thanks for all the help and advise :)
