Hoorah! For far too long these parasites have been getting away with extortionate release fees for cars parked on private property.

Well done the coalition government.

It's been banned in Scotland for donkeys, good to see it happening elsewhere.

Just hope they don't decide to switch to CCTV and send you a ticket in the post.

I know you hear lots of stories about clampers and a lot of them are real erm bankers ;)

but this really sucks for me. I live in a town centre and I paved over my garden and paid the council to lower the kerb etc.. so now i park my car on my front and not on the road where you have to pay! yes i have to pay to park outside my own house.. the whole street is a pay and display.

probably 5 times a week someone just parks on my front. I mean actually on my land all 4 wheel where my garden used to be.

The only recourse I have is to clamp the car and charge them. I everytime i get home i have to wonder if i will be able to park.

You cannot call the police as its not on public land its a private matter.
I would have to PAY to have the car towed off my land so i could park.

there are many many situations like mine where clamping is the only deterrent to stop people parking on private land. The Only option i would be left with without clamping would be to brake into the car by breaking the window. letting off the handbrake and pushing the car into the street. Which im legally entitled to do if you leave a car in my front garden.

Also this wouldnt be a problem at all if the council hadnt turned my whole street into a pay and display which caused the parking wars in the first place.

they have really made a mistake here as they havent changed the law to allow the police to sort out cars parked on private land before changing the clamping laws. Now effectively i can come park in your driveway everyday and there is very little you can do that wouldnt get you arrested.

Could you not install a key operated bollard of some sort to stop people getting onto your drive?

Think what he is saying is people parking in front of his house blocking access to his driveway, an he can't do thing about it cause council own the land in front of his house, so he can't place anything to stop others blocking access :thumb:

that wasnt what i was saying but that happens too. basically parking is scarce and some people just dump their cars anywhere. today i go to the shops and i get bacl and ther is a stannah stair lift van on my front right up against the bay window whre my garden used to be.

I parked right across the back of him so he couldnt get back out and now im ignoring him trying to get back out.

thats all i can do without involving clampers. its liek wound that can nver heal its every two days or so i have this. and the locking pole will only stop half of the problem. at least when they block me in or out you can get them towed by the police as they are on public land on on one of those "I" shaped lines.

personally the clampers was a lot less trouble. I jsut call them and put the kettle on.

dotn forget everytime i get home and i cant get in my space i have to then pay and display whilst it gets sorted out.

Its very easy to say clampers are <insert bad word here> but people who park anywhere are much worse especially on holiday here in blackpool.

Yeah i ve seen parking in blackpool sometimes end to end no spaces, horrible but like that in alot of places as the roads get more crowded.

its not a garden any more i paved over all the plants but yeah they park on it whenever i go out. I dont want to have to get out of my car and start messing about with keys and posts then get back ion the car and move it forward then go back and sort the pole out. the clamping sign did the trick its the Only thing that stops people parking where they shouldnt.

this is google maps streetview outside my house some time back but its not much different these days. that black clio is NOT my car. as you can see 2 cars have parked across blocking all access to my parking space and even if they could then there is the black clio in my parking space. thats all my land.
that is a typical day and totally random but shows you the hassles i have to endure each and every day and clampers and towing cars away is the only way to train people to behave IMO the police are too busy and take hours to even get there and then most will do nothing. banning clampers without coming up with a substitute is just wrong and made a difficult situation impossible for me. Ive even considered accidentally scratching cars.

just imagine coming home to that everyday
