View Full Version : Can we get some rules?
I'm not being a sour grape here as i've not won anything but can we get some rules put in place regarding competitions?
Today i've noticed people with low posts & i mean extremely low, for example : http://forums.aria.co.uk/showpost.php?p=424019&postcount=51
1post to his name... It seems people are registering just to enter the competitions....
As i've said to other people - it wouldn't surprise me if people are registering more accounts using a different IP to double their chances.
I'm all for Random Winners etc however i feel like i've been slapped in the face by Aria. I consider myself a loyal forum member & what has been set up to reward us has technically backfired as we have a flood of new members who want a piece of the pie so to speak- so in other words i'm not being rewarded at all.
As i said, call me what you want but this really needs to be looked at - It's getting to the stage where i'm giving up with the competitions as some newbie will just steal the prize anyway...
There is also a member who ONLY posts in the competition forum & has won 2 or 3 times, yet they continue to post in there, bit selfish?
the primary idea behind competitions is to encourage new users to both the forum and the shop.
I can't release details, but last week when I had a meeting with Aria there are plans being put in place, your time will come :)

Ive just joined and am partaking of the competitions - but I wouldn't have minded having to wait say a month to be eligible to participate.

yes but you have already been thanked, have some rep and just under 100 posts. So you have made good use of the time you have been here.

Yep seen that now - its in a different place to my other forum has it, hence the confusion.
I realise that the purpose of these competitions is to bring in some fresh faces but I agree that some rules need to be clearly set out. One frequent question that keeps popping up for most of these trivia competitions is "can we enter more than once?" and it hasn't really been answered yet.

Mine just jumped to 460 :) lol

maybe something like if you win you are not aloud to enter again for another week
that way it gives loads of different people a chance to win
Well enter for fun, but not win the prize?
Lots of the good guys already do this themselves, which is kinda nice. +rep to them.

As a fellow non winner (loser?), I couldn't disagree with the sentiments of this message more.
My take is that the competitions are there to lure in more folks and to have a bit of harmless fun, not to reward stalwarts, or even those who are quickest on the draw.
My beef is that when they announce a winner they don't bother to tell us the winning answer.
You expect me to trail back into the discussion to find the answer?
The least they could do is to link to the correct answer.
+rep to them.
im sorry that is now un-possible
please hang up and try again

They usually state the answer?
do you have any link examples
Interesting : replies to this along the lines of wait and see things are in the pipeline, then a separate announcement about competitions on facebook and twitter, where I would guess you do not even have to be a member of the forum to compete? let alone only join to win competitions?

I rarely see an answer in the message that announces the winner.
I would post a link, but I see no way to link to a particular answer.
That would actually be one way of reporting the result, linking to the winning entry, but like I said linking to individual messages does not seem to work.
Try the one about Aria's time in work on Saturday.
A vague statement about the time, but no answer.

Rep is irrelevant!
Isnt that usually followed by a green tractor beam and the words "You will be assimilated into the collective." ??
