While I haven't ran a separate PhysX card with an ATI card personally, everybody I know who has / what I've seen on the internet.

The gains aren't worth it in many games, especially the power consumption and additional heat from the GTS. It's up to you, to see if it's worth it for the games you play and the gains you see.

Personally I'd sell the GTS and put my money towards a more noticable upgrade such as an SSD..

I done some research and there is a mod that works, in the quest for an interesting weekend i was thinking about wether it would work or if it was even worth it.

you could always give it ago if you own both cards then it cant hurt trying can it?
then you can see for your self if it is worth it

Physx is pointless. Nvidia spin.

It is true , i think ill find some thing else to do this weekend then more negative that positive on the subject, and with little game support id be better of with a second 5850.

in games that use it it is very worth while but they are few and far between. if you play any that do you will be well impressed and wont look back, graw 2 being a game that is made by physx. r6 vegas 2 and mirrors edge are 2 more that look much much better with it.

the 88gts 512 sucks very little juice for the power it has so is a good choice for it. its also worth having in your box if you run any other apps that can make use of the cuda too.

im sure someone told me that you cant run a nvidia/ati card set up anymore because the drivers were disabled? i could be mistaken though. personally i would get a second 5850 :)

You can hack it to work.

Mr. Strawberry

or use the older drivers which do allow it

Yes there was a particular driver quite recently that allowed PhysX to work on an Nvidia card even with an ATI card present. You could try that.

I would sell the 8800GT or use it somewhere, they are still good cards.

or like i said
just give it try and see if you like it. if you do keep it. if you dont sell it

hi if your main intention of running it for benchmarks then you may as well sell it. if you play many games with physX then use it.

i dont play games that use physX tbh. and the things that i did do it gave a small performance drop.

gpu based physX is faster yet limited compared to cpu physics anyway.

Well im sure now that physx is a waste of time! set it up today and got a very small increase in FPS in metro 2033 and i still got massive drops in FPS as i enterd dust filled rooms.
