View Full Version : New AMD architecture?

Total athlon replacement due now???
ye the new quad core amd architecture.
There will be Dual-Core Phenoms too. Apparently they make the Core 2 Duos look like toys.
I'll wait until I see some solid benchmarks before I make that sort of statement myself, however.

this gives me the horn
AMD need to do something, i like my c2ds but if intel get the monopoly on performance cpus they could start charging stupid money for them and with no competition we would have to pay it if we wanted a performance setup.
ive always stuck with AMD, and would never touch intel with a long bargepole with a Mr Gadget extenable arm attached to the end :shock:
But core 2's and Q's wow i'm converted! :lol:
Amd will have to pull off a big one to get me back
I'm just another Socket 939'er that AMD left in the lurch with AM2. They'll have to do something just short of miraculous to get my money again.
I'll hold out for Intel's 45nm CPUs.

I note with interest that (like the AMD K6-3) Level 3 cache will be used - hopefully not on the motherboard this time though. :mrgreen:

'With the processor frequency 2.5 GHz , it was possible to obtain the result 23768 points in 3DMark'06. After processor overclock to 3.0 GHz testers already reached the result 30031 points in 3DMark'06. Video card in this case were overclocked to 830/1800 MHz.'
HardOCP were on hand to offer up a smack down to the claims;

Seems odd to test a new CPU with 3DMark - but there you go - it's all part of 'New Hardware Theater' (sic) - coming soon to a US Cable channel near you...
I'll be getting the low-end Phenom X4 and overclocking it, just as I did with the Athlon X2, back when dual-core was omgwtfcool.
