My friend has had her computer since around Christmas and for the past 4 or 5 days it has been switching its self off randomly.
Before i go to her house and confront her scary brother who hates me, i was wondering what you guys think it could be.
I have on my list...
Virus
PSU
Heat
Thanks!
It will probably be the power supply.
Agree most likely the PSU although it could be heat.
First step would be to enter the bios and check the temp the processor is running at and what the shutdown temp is.
Take off the side panel and give the case, fan, heatsink ect . . a good cleaning. Maybe re-apply the thermal paste.
Still happening then, look at trying another Power Supply or purchasing a PSU tester. There very handy
If it kept on the floor it possible that the CPU Heatsink is full of dust...
Like Belso says - just give everything a proper clean and check temp in BIOS...
Although if it's just totally shutting down with no warning and there are no stability problems, it's probably PSU related...
