I woudda said that gfx cards dont work on x1 speed. two, how are you going 2 change the setting if you cannot see the bios??/

well, its not completely broken, it just dies every 5 mins, once i get the new one in i shud be ok, think its overheating, i have put a case fan in, but i think it may already be half cooked, so this looks like the way to go, i've told her not to go on it at all

Never heard of a mobo having just PCIE x1? PCIE x1 slots are tiny around an inch or so long can you confirm it is a x1 slot.

What pc is it i am assuming it is a prebuilt one.

That's a CNR slot, not a PCI-e x1 lane. There's a large difference.

Best she can hope for is a PCI graphics card. ATI 9250 or nVIDIA FX 5200.

More on the CNR here:

Christ it's a Mac? Why didn't you tell us? >_<

It's possible they're 64-bit PCI interfaces. Can't you just upload a photo for me so we can identify the interface before we advise you on replacement graphics?

However being a Mac you may find it harder to add discrete graphics.

:O

We'll just ignore that, right guys? :D

PM'd you a link to an FX5200, mattbot. Aria don't stock any PCI cards, although the 7900GX2 appears in their PCI category, oddly.

That'd be a bugger, if someone bought one of those for a PCI slot. :P

Don't get what, my little joke about the 7900GX2? It's a PCI-Express card. Two cards in fact, stuck together.
