Weird thing

Did a driver update yesterday (ATI Catalyst 10.7) after which I rebooted when my desktop opened up it was there for a few seconds then the screen went blank an a load of coloured vertical lines came up on screen,
I couldn't do anything just seemed to lock up, so I rebooted again but still same anyway a long story shorter :thumb: after various attempts of doing things to cure it (safe mode/uninstalling card etc)
I did a system restore to before I put 10.7 drivers in, all was good.
But I don't think it was the drivers that caused this as I reinstalled them again and it's been fine since.
Bit weird tho Interested in what you guys think it might have been.

It was probably the drivers.

They probably didn't install correctly or one of the primary driver files got corrupted.

I would go along with that, but isn't it weird that desktop wallpaper showed up for a few seconds ?
I have had similar things happen but not showing desktop first just blank screen or coloured lines etc.
