You could always get a monitor with a DVI port and get a DVI-HDMI convertor for a few quid.
HDMI and PCs don't always get on either.

That monitor is LED and has two HDMI inputs.

Widescreen or regular?
At that size, widescreen would be pretty small, heightwise.
A 19-inch "regular" is bigger than a 20-inch widescreen in that dimension. (I have one of each sitting in front of me.)
There is a 20-inch with DVI:
Iiyama Prolite 20" E2008HDS-1 Widescreen Monitor with DVI (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Monitors/20+Inch+LCD/Iiyama+Prolite+20%22+E2008HDS-1+Widescreen+Monitor+with+DVI+?productId=36812)
21-inch widescreen would give about the same height as 19-inch regular.

Be careful about TVs.
Technically they may be OK, but if, like me, you don't own a TV you will be on the receiving end of nasty letters from the TV licensing people.
This can also be a problem for students.

I've read that you still need a TV license for anything that has the ablity to watch TV on Eg; BBC iPlayer via Internet.

Only if you watch streaming TV.
iPlayer download is OK.
At least, that's what I read.
Update: Here's the official word:
You do not need a television licence to catch-up on television programmes in BBC iPlayer, only when you watch or record at the same time (or virtually the same time) as it is being broadcast or otherwise distributed to the public.BBC iPlayer - Do I need a TV licence to watch programmes on BBC iPlayer? It's only LIVE streaming TV

Correct streaming TV over the internet requires a licence - watching On Demand via the internet doesn't.
this is 3"'s bigger but i'd recommend it:

That one is just slightly bigger than the average now sold.
Q2 Large Area TFT LCD Shipments Reach Record High of 170M (http://www.prweb.com/releases/TFT_LCD/DisplaySearch/prweb4373894.htm)
The average diagonal size was 21.9” in Q2’10, compared to 22.0” in Q1’10. Looks like Samsung rules the roost in most segments.

I'm not surprised. I doubt if Dell makes anything. Like Apple, they farm out production.

Well as far as I know they are the only people making 2048x1152 panels ;)
Not exactly common.
