hey,

I might be building a new computer in about october, but i dont have a screen to use with it. I have this laptop though. How would i be able to use the screen from this?

Thanks,

p.s. it does have a VGA port

Generally speaking the vga port on a laptop is for connecting said lappy to a \"proper\" monitor. Not for connecting other pcs to the lappy's display. Least not that i know of anyway.

Monitors can be picked up new for under £100 easily these days and for peanuts if you get a 2nd hand crt display.

No, that's not possible. Well, not without deconstruction of the laptop.

Buy a monitor. Or maybe you could use your TV.

my old 24\" crt tv?

No. It would need a VGA input. Usually only found on newer LCD televisions.

i havent really read all of this thread, but you might be able to get away with it if you have an s-video out on the card, and your tv can accept svideo signals through a scart socket.. its an option anyway?

He has an onboard graphics solution - no Composite/S-Video outputs. =[

Oh, a laptop. Okay in that case just use a Composite yellow cable to connect the laptop to the TV. The picture will most likely be horrible, as will the resolution.

and you should make sure your tv can accept svid signals too, otherwise you will likely get a B&W picture..

my tv can display up to 1024x768.. but yeah, its not the best picture quality, but it is viewable if theres no other option.
