have confirmed I can open them again in Open by simply changing the extension back to .odt


just resave as .doc once you have opened it or is \"suite\" something different?

I think what he means is that he (or a friend) saved the file in OO, and now no longer have access to it, due to it being on a friend's PC or having been uninstalled or something. In any case it seems that he's unable to re-open it with OO.

If it was me I'd install Ubuntu as a virtual operating system, then open it with that and save it as an RTF or DOC file. Not easy or simple, but that'd be my method.
