That's right, I went and upgraded my system on Wednesday!

I am now the proud owner of the following computer:

At the moment I have the CPU overclocked to 2.56GHz, seems very stable. If I go higher the PC locks up, but I think I can get around that when I have some decent time to tinker and experiment :) The RAM is worth a special mention. It's only DDR2 PC5300, yet it's overclocked like a b*tch and still runs extremely well. I ran 3DMark06 and scored 9700 which is about 1600 higher than on my old X2 4200+ system. I also have the 8800GTS overclocked quite nicely too.

Just got to figure out how to pay for the CPU, motherboard, RAM and case I've bought now

Stop *****ing about and get it too 400fsb 8) run the memory on a divider to keep it under the stable speeds.

Dont the abits have a seperate memory clock, think mine does.

Yeah you can clock the memory individually from the CPU, but I don't think that's what's causing the lock ups :?

The abit bioses are notoriously iffy (again only going from my experience from reviewing a couple and the c2d one was particularly bad, even abits techys said it was full of instability holes) if its unstable at say 370 try 380 or even 390+, this was what i was told.

Are you running stock voltages?

nice :D
im surprised that the multiplier is only 7, the E4300 is 9 but then it comes with only 2MB cache as opposed to 4MB on the E6320... not sure how much of a difference it makes tho.

I've been keeping the voltages set to auto, however I tried setting them myself and the Pc locked up very quickly. Perhaps the auto function is giving more volts that I thought it was :P

On 22nd July Intel are slashing some of their CPU prices, I hear the Quad Core CPU of theirs will be way below £200!!

The missus has no idea I've upgraded the system, she just thinks I bought a new £35 case :)

I should be OK though. the system is being funded by selling the old parts, and cashback I'm getting from some cashback websites.
