View Full Version : going AMD....
I'm confused.
https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/NgGsLmmA4594Lmex_TaJNg,,
The Processor states it can support DDR3 2Ghz... but the Motherboard (with the latest chipset) can only support DDR3 1.8Ghz...? :S :(
It's just default speeds, little overclocking is just needed to get to 2000MHz ram speed.
ok thanks, so i won't have any issues getting to it? :D
I've never overclocked with AMD before. as the only PC i had with an AMD was a AMD Athlon 64 :D

Toonshorty, whatever happened to your grammar and spelling?

Lol, gotta love the forums :D

Damn.
I always make that mistake, I know it's gammar too.
hey there fat fingers - typo ahoy
gammar - int tha summut 2 du wiff fissics n ray`s ??
Sorry VJ, couldn't resist
I've had a few boards that state the clock speed on ram not matching the CPU capabilities, just overcook them - like I've just done wiff me dinna
DT.
apologies i have been working with a lot of black country folk so my grammar has like gone.
i will regain my former glory ...
ok, i guess i've gotta somehow get this order cancelled that my dad did.
we'll go for the 1055T, then i guess i'll invest the extra money on a cooler. or something... :D

looks good. btw what's your budget?
i think it's £500... my dad just asked what would be good to upgrade the PC with so it would be like a server, and a normal desktop that everyone in the house uses...
ok, well the stuff came today...
I've never built with AMD before.
somehow managed to bend some of the pins on the 1090T :S
well i spent a good 20 mins of solid straightening out of pins, and it works :D
OK...
well BIOS and Windows 7 is only showing 3.8Gb of usable RAM... :(
any ideas?
I'm on the latest BIOS (1456)

mate get the 1055T and the crosshair IV instead!

Seems hes already bought the parts, but i would wager the onboard GPU is using some of your RAM.

ahh i never seen that post :( would have been much better off getting this https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/y6QFT0CWgts8bR2iiFaPew
ahh, yes the onboard GPU.. my bad.
yeah, I did want to get the 1055T, but my dad had already ordered and it would've been too much hassle to return this stuff, as Aria isn't exactly round the corner from where we live...
VJ Just a heads up, but when you get that board you will have to faff around with the bios to get that F3 to work with the motherboard. The chip set hates the samsung f3's. You did at one point have to update the f3's firmware, however I don't know if thats still the case. The steps to take would be update the bios, then .... open BIOS -> Storage Configuration -> OnChip SATA Speed and choice : SATA 3.0GB/s -> save -> boot
It's wrong Aria market it DDR3 2000MHZ support.
The IMC's rated for 1333MHZ, sell it as such. Though "unofficially" the IMC can handle more, unlike Deneb.
The IMC can handle 1600MHZ fine (Modules), it can handle 2000MHZ at JEDEC standard for 2000MHZ, it can't run my ripjaws 2000MHZ rating.

the samsung F3 worked straight out the box for me.. :s
the OnChip SATA Speed and choice is on Auto.

Yeah i see this now.. :(, for the RAM to run at 2Ghz, i'd have to overclock the processor. I'll get some help with that sometime from here when I have time :D
You wouldn't have to OC the CPU in terms of frequency, you'd OC the NB.
Lower the multi, raise the Bus speed.
But you'd have to run the RAM at like CL9 2000MHZ.
Better to just set it CL7 1600MHZ (Like I use)

The 2000Mhz RAM is only really worth running at that when it helps your OC. Generally the tighter timings have more actual benefit.

Tbf, it doesn't help OC.
At a bus speed of 300 you can have frequencies of 4.2GHZ/4050MHZ/3900MHZ/3750MHZ with a RAM frequency of 1600MHZ.
Ergo, all you need is 1600MHZ Modules.
erm, i won't overclock that much for now... I'm on the stock cooler..
It seems AMD have their own version of Intel Speed Step, what do i need to do to turn that off?
Honestly, just leave them on lol.
Set your RAM to 1600MHZ CL7.

ok. I'm very confused. :(
Don't use AOD for that lol.
Go into your BIOS.
gah, ok. means i have to go downstairs lol.

Thats ok then, I just know I had problems and other people have as well. Mine only works if i set the speed to 3.
Its a nice build by the way.
