View Full Version : Palit USA First manufacturer to official sell GTX460 2GB in the US!
so just saw that on facebook.
really a 2GB version, is there any need? still got 256bit bus.
reminds me of the 5870 2GB really saw little gains, but this is the most powerful card from them.
gtx460 is a mid range card, why put 2GB on it?
cost: $260

I'd say it will be beneficial on higher resolution.

+1 I really don't see the point in it myself, 2gb ram would only be beneficial at 2560x1600+ and a gtx 460 isn't a high end card and wouldn't really perform good at that res anyway (sli ye). that amount of memory should be on high end cards e.g. 5970 or gtx 480 etc
to the general public(rear unclued masses) the bigger the number the better it will be even if they have a slight inkling about what their buying ie a pc loving m8 who recommends get a 460 their ok cards, they go online and instantly see the big number oooh its got double the memory so must be double as good
it will sell by the bucket load
The blue are already selling these at £187

Sad, but true, Foxtrot
gainward have one out aswell but its over £200
Ram is 3600Mhz same as te 768Mb model, unlike the 1Gig at 4000Mhz.
wait till you see what they can do in sli above 1080 before you start saying its a waste imo.
I can get the core on mine to 835 and it takes out a HD5850.
in some games the 460 will give the 5870 a run for its money when they are oc, but dont forget these will oc too ;)
Yeah but my 460 didn't cost £300.

neither does the 2gb version as it costs £187
I meant as opposed to the HD5870.
thats the reason there are so many versions of the 460 coming out, they will be the top selling gpu now till the end of the year.

How right you are! Just the other day my little cousin was boasting about his silly gfx with 2gb memory. I had to correct him.
2GB in SLI at 2560x1600 means you can run high levels of AA/AF. Can't do that on 768MB versions and the 1GB version struggles too.
Granted the memory bus is limiting here, but it's better than nothing. :)
