I am building my first PC from scratch. I have limited experience and knowledge. Was looking at getting the following:
Akasa Zen Silent-Cool Case
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 AM2
Gigabyte GA M55S-S3 AM2
500GB Samsung SATAII 16MB
3 1/2\" Black Floppy Drive
600W SurgeControl Power Supply
I have an optical drive and will be sorting out sound and graphics when I've looked into it. Can you see any problems with this setup? Also can you please advise a suitable 2GB DDR2 800 memory kit?
Thanks
I can't see any issues with what you have specced, personally i would go with intel core2duo, probably better performance for the same price. Also the psu i suspect it is quite cheap as you have not given a brand name and this can be a false economy cheap psu's tend to be over rated in that the specs are usually for peak power rather than continuous so if you are thinking of some high eng graphics i suspect the psu might struggle and worst case could fail taking out other components when it does. Go for a branded psu like Tagan, Seasonic, OCZ, Enermax to name a few.
As for memory, well prices seem like they are at an all time low at the moment so you could get some good branded stuff for very little outlay, go for OCZ, Corsair, Gskill, CellShock, Patriot they are all good makes there are others too all DDR800 (6400) and try to get C4 (CAS4) rated stuff.
