Hi

I recently purchased this card and am having trouble updating the drivers for it.

Installed with a new build and clean install of Windows 7 64Bit.

Boots into Windows fine and appears to be working ok.

The problem starts when I try to install the updated drivers, even the drivers from the included cd.

During the CCC install the screen goes black and recieves no signal.

I have to switch the pc off and back on to get the display back and the drivers and CCC are not installed.

Never had this problem before installing hardware.

Anyone have any ideas?

Managed to install the Catalyst control center on it's own, so it seems to be a bug with the driver updating.

Have you tried uninstalling all the drivers and installing the latest from amd ati downloads after a restart?

+1, do that, plus use something called Driver sweeper and remove the display drivers using that.

un-install all ati drivers restart and boot in to safe mode use driver sweeper to remove anything the ati installer left behind then restart and install latest drivers, always sorts out my driver problems links below

I had problems as well it seems it doesn't install correctly half the time if you install over, which is a nuisance!

LOL

I had an email from Vtx support today.

I had contacted them a couple of days ago when I ran into problems.

4850 is a still high-end card, it will need better power input and good thermal system for it. I have 2 suggestions here,
1. When play 3D games, the 4850 will need more power to calculate graphics. I would suggest you to use at least 450W which 12V comes with 30A for it.
2. 4850 will protect itself if over-heat. Please check if your thermal system is good enough for it. I would suggest you to have at least 2 fans in your PC, one in the front that will suck air in, the other one put in the back which will blow air out.

Still it's nice to know they read support emails.

Thanks for the help everyone, not tried to update the driver yet but I expect it will work since I know it is not a power problem. I have been running games on it at full load with no problems.
