Ok so now i have a problem lol , i had vista so i purchased the family upgrade pack no problems installed on 3 pc's, 3 months ago i reinstalled windows 7 on my pc (fresh install format) needed to ring microsoft for activation but no problems.
Today i installed windows 7 added my key invalid key 5 times invalid key so i entered without a key and had a 30 day trial, went to activate and was told that i cant use my key as i have not upgraded ????? wtf ?? im understanding that to upgrade windows xp to windows 7 this is the normal procedure so surly you would have formatted the HDD so what has changed? and what is wrong with my key ?

Phone Microsoft and ask.

Not sure they will sort it as it's an upgrade serial on a clean install.

If he follows my search parameters there is a very quick reg edit that fixes the issue

Pray tell plz, ive been reading that even the upgrade disk using custom install needs a copy of xp to have been on the HDD and only to format it with the windows install disk ^^ i installed my family pack on a F3 formatted no xp no vista on 1 computer out of the 3 no problems.

You will need to use google, I cannot tell you in this forum, it's against the rules

Cheers for the response don't no why i didn't just google it, very interesting reading as ive installed windows ill just use the last option and that should leave the next reinstall on the RAID0 open for activation as windows will see the installation.

Activated with regedit ;) thx alot for the fast response and help im really loving this forum ive been a customer of aria for 3 years and never even thought to use the foum, big mistake were has this forum been all my life love it! great community!
