Hi all, in a bit of a dilemma with my bf's PC. Many core parts of it are somewhat antique, with a few upgrades helping along the way:
Athlon XP 2200
Old Asrok mobo
Geforce 6600 256
1 gb ddr ram (can't remember exact type offhand)
2 IDE HDDs and DVD writer.
I replaced the PSU when I added the graphics card a few years back. The PSU appears to be failing. The PC keeps tripping over the fuse on the kettle lead (and I've tried multiple leads to no avail), and tested the socket. Half the time I get a reported power problem noted in the BIOS when booting up the PC
He's been contemplating getting a new PC anyway (when he finally gets the cash), but I wasn't sure what the collective hive thought about saving the current one. Is it likely to just be a PSU issue? If so, any advice on what to get to replace?
