This is a new competition; it will last two weeks and will be given to people who introduce the most members to the Aria forum from noon Friday 30th July until noon Friday 13th August.

The new members must be genuine (we will be checking for that!) and have created least 10 (relevant) posts by 13th of August.

Prizes will be 10000 loyalty points or £100 for the 1st, 5000 loyalts points or £50 for the 2nd and 3000 loyalts points or £30 for the 3rd.

Nominations will be appreciated to help us decide on the winner.

The winner will be announced Monday the 16th.

Good luck and thank you,

Guys, i am sure you know lots of people interested in computers. Many of you are members in other forums; so invite them over. Be nice and use your charm, tell them about benefits here; I am sure they will accept :)

Just as an idea (as Gibbo did a similar activity earlier in the year with a GTX470 iirc), why not run a competition exclusively for people who are signing up too? Maybe offer a really desirable item, like a Crucial C300 64GB SSD or something? And to stop people creating thousands of fake accounts and signing up, request newcomers post 5 posts before being eligible??

That way us oldies have great ammunition to snipe people from other forums to join Aria, as well as motivation from this competition ;D just a suggestion though, no worries if you don't like it!

Aria
28-07-10, 18:05
Can do post me a link to gibbo's last activity?

Multiple entries were discounted, and you had to post once in that thread to be eligible. Increasing that to 5 might make people a bit more willing to stay I guess? Though that is extra effort, so might require an awesome prize to make it worth the effort...?

This is a deal brough on by Richard (our sales and marketing manager) and given to Gibbo to put on the forum. This is the case with most of the deals and competitions which we brought on to Gibbo and he put them on the forum.

This is why, with me getting involved you are getting lots of compettions as I now can impliment as the idea comes to me.

We'll put on a similar competition this week.

I take it second accounts are allowed :D

zaz
28-07-10, 19:37
Hmm, im not convinced, you may get some people who recruit, lets say, 10 new users and then one of them wins the draw, but the recruiter gets nothing as he finished fourth in the referring stakes. Or sth like that.

I think letting making new users more aware of what regular contributors can look forward to in terms of deals and prize draws should be enough incentive to stick around.

Aria
28-07-10, 19:46
Also, we need users that contribute on a regular basis. It is difficult to see quality of contributions unless they are active on another forum also.

Do we have the benefits that users/members get clearly mentioned?

Absolutely, and I think it's great. I just thought as an incentive, it would be the perfect opportunity to offer potentially new members a competition too, and to encourage them to stay you can ask them to post 5 constructive posts before being eligible for the competition. Hopefully that's not too many to seem not worth bothering with, but enough to get people looking around the forum and seeing what we're like and hopefully encouraging people to stay.

Crucial 64GB SSD sounds like a perfect prize to me for this - for 5 posts I'd have a go if it was another forum.

Hope the excellent comps for us regs continue too though! :)

Do we have the benefits that users/members get clearly mentioned?
Probably not as clear as it could be - I tried logging out and coming back as an anonymous user, and I didn't feel like the benefits of regular competitions, free delivery etc were spelled out to me. I guess DT could put a banner or something along the top of the forum (like we currently have the "if you have not entered your systems details, please do so in your user CP to allow a faster response" thing)?

zaz
28-07-10, 19:51
If it were me, i would set the forum up in such a way as to direct new users to a particular section/thread that they can read about how awesome it is for regulars around the place, giving examples of the daily comps setup by staff and members alike, that there are daily and weekly deals etc, that there is also a market section for people with a certain post count n so on.

I think a thread like that will do more to keep people than luring them with the chance of a shiney ssd first time out, i know as a buyer of 3+ years and a forum user for nearly that, id be a bit peeved if some new user came long, won a great ssd drive then buggered off without staying to help out.

Don't make me feel bad.

Although, £100 does sound quite nice.

What is a loyalty voucher may I ask? Is it just £100 to spend at Aria on anything or £100 worth of Aria bytes?

clemos
29-07-10, 08:26
I think if you have an account, you can use the loyalty points with some of your own loyalty points to buy something mroe expensive.

If I win what I'll do is sell my HD 5770 for £100, then buy the XFX HD 5850 + 3 Games bundle. In other words an HD 5850 for £11 :D

The lack of voltage control doesn't bother me since I don't overclock graphics cards.

Currently on 3 referrals, just waiting for them to slip into the community since they had to wait for DoubleTop to verify their accounts.

Not trying to make you feel bad, you want a 100 quid so you're just following the comp rules.

All im saying is i dont see the point of recruiting members who arent gonna be spending a penny here, if i was running the comp id make it UK only as thats where Aria ship goods.
