NOTE: Most people will already have this 24Mb service available to them however those that don't can follow these steps:

1) Click the following link: http://www.talktalkmembers.com/content/view/142/156/

2) Enter your phone number and post code, then hit Check exchange.

3) Where it says 'State:' to the right should be one of the following: Live, Planned or Unplanned.

4) To the right of that should be a circle symbol, hover over it to view the alt tag.

If it says:

"This exchange has been targeted for unbundling, however, there are no dates for this to start."

Then TalkTalk are considering installing 24Mb in your area.

_____

For me, I'm just playing the waiting game since it says "This exchange has been targeted" but no date has been set.

Might just bombard their support until I get to management and then ask them to hurry up :P

Same.

How many people are at your exchange?

I presume it's around 1000-3000.

1,800 here.

I've got no ADSL2+ services here, just 8Mb :|

Nice link, thanks for that. I'm also unplanned atm, and at 3.38km away from the exchange in a straight line, I could theoretically get around 3Mbps. May as well stick with the unlimited 1Mb connection I have (which is unstable as a pre-induced thermit reaction) and hold out.

Interesting.
I've got State Targeted This exchange has been targeted for unbundling.
Since Tue, 17 Aug 10

Presumably that means something might happen in about a month.

I've got live but unless I reboot the router it's almost always at 8064 or similar down. When I reboot and get 18000 or more it's nice and fast but keeps stopping.

Why would anyone want Talk Talk??

They have been told off several times this year for phoning people up, saying that TT have taken over their current ISP and asking for the MAC code!!

This 24Mb stuff is all BT 21st Century upgrade anyway, any ISP using BT gear can offer it if the exchange has been upgraded.

Be warned though; if you have anything less than a good connection speed already, switching to the 21st Century 24Mb network can actually slow you down!!

This shows you when TalkTalk are installing there equipment.

Some ISPs like XILO actually offer a really, really good service on TalkTalk's exchange equipment.

Before I get trolled just for saying the word "XILO" I'll say that their customer support is second to none and they're pretty quick too. They do the following package:

£25.99 a month (Inc. Line Rental)
50GB Storage
24Mb Download
1Mb Upload
5-Star customer support

I just say that I'm going to move to a TalkTalk LINE if the LLU my exchange but if I choose I XILO connection I'm still on a TalkTalk line.

Yeah, I was just messing...

When I did mine, I typed in a phone number, and the 1st half of my post code, and it worked..

Do you know any of your neighbours numbers? You could always try their numbers if its having problems with yours?

I for one am delighted with TalkTalk. £26 per month for uncapped 12 meg broadband, line rental and free UK calls 24/7. Rock-solid download/upload speeds ever since I switched to them 4 months or so ago.

You tend to get this if you have, for example, Redcare using that number, or if the line isn't BT or TalkTalk. I tend to use Samknows to find out exchange details, such as available speeds, if the exchange is unbundled etc.

Well if they claim to be able to give you 3Mb then when they or o2 give you 14Mb they look a lot better, plus they can slow your line all the way down to 3Mb and say that's what they projected.

Why would anyone want to move to a slower line. o2 Told me I would get 12-16mb & I get slap bang in the middle. I would have been happy at 12mb. Thats why Ofcom will soon be cracking down hard on ISP's. No more upto 24mb, they will have to tell you what you are likely to get & if it does not happen you will be able to move to a new ISP free of charge.
