anyone using Fedora 7 yet? it's a lot better than FC6, took no time at all to get it set up right, even have the back/forward buttons on my intellimouse working
Get ubuntu, rock solid and easy as ever to use. Even dell people will bring it into the public's eye and it will be a publicised os in the future i hope.
Yeah I've got Fedora 7 x64 running too. I find it more natural than Ubuntu... I've always preferred RedHat-based distributions such as Fedora and Mandriva over Debian-based like Ubuntu. I don't know if I'll install it as my primary Linux OS though. I've got so many files and settings on Ubuntu that would take an age to backup/restore and duplicate for Fedora. And they're not really that different anyway, considering they both use GNOME as the default desktop - I'm sure many people could be convinced that they're identical.

to be honest fedora is the only distro ive ever used, when i get my main machine up ad running again i may give ubuntu a chance as people seem to rave about it a lot. x64 is a pain, its been years people, wheres the 64-bit support? hardware manufacturers are so lazy
I was given Fedora core 6 on a dvd or CD cant remember, but it never went past the install stage and never booted. So im more than happy with Ubuntu, and it now has intergrated desktop effects, or beryl with some work, it looks amazing.
Just wait until you update the kernel and it randomly drops all SMP support, leaving you with one working CPU core and no explanation. Even compiling my own kernel from source couldn't fix that, nor could reinstalling the i686 kernel (or any of the others I tried).
Yeah, that sucked.
