Nick its Stanwick Lakes, not far from me (5miles or so) maybe an hour from MK? Its just off the a45. http://www.stanwicklakes.org.uk/

It gets expensive Snakedoc, beware lol.

Just got my daughter excitied by the bird hide lol looks like thats on the list for a visit..

I hope so too. Been over at 3buyer for 13k posts, but the atmosphere here is a lot better, the admins seem to care etc.

The bird hide is pretty good but you can sometimes get to see more if you wander a bit further around the lakes further away from the hubub as the hide isn't far from the childrens playground. Just across the path from the hide on the lake is a small bird feeder enclosure, last time i was in tere iit was swarming with reedbuntings.

Its a nice place to spend 2-3 hours there are various walks around the various lakes with a few "adventure playgrounds", a visitors centre with a large deck overlooking the main lake.
