just a wee thread to see how many people have overclocked their graphics card and what stable clocks you have managed to achieve :)

mines:

clocks are in the image :D 42 idle and about 65-66 under load with 50% fan speed which i think is quite good :)

I've always been a bit scared of overclocking my graphics cards :D

so was i because this was my first ever time overclocking anything, wanted to try the graphics card before the cpu because its easier it think :), i just kept sliding the tab thingy up by 50Mhz then doing a test to make sure it was ok, then eventually got up to the maximum that it would let me overclock it :), the antec 1200's air cooing combined witht he vapour-x cooling on the card = WIN! :D

nice big one for you.

Mine 5770s do not OC well at all and I leave at stock.

I think I'll have a go at OC it when i get back home tonight.

Some before and after benchmarks would be good to see what effect it has on performance.

What bench mark you running Mate ?.

i can do 850/2125/1200 core/shader/mem with my 8800gts sat on desktop but for 3d benching much more than 810/2025/1100 will crash it but that depends on air temp tbh, it wouldnt do that now with a 24c ambient :|

cant complain when ref is 650/1625/950 iirc :D

You could use Crysis as a benchmark as that seems to be the most GPU limited game that I know of and should show the most gains from a GPU OC.

I have never bothered overclocking my gtx260, i don't really benchmark anymore and it doesn't struggle in the games that i play, even if it did i doubt overclocking it would make them playable so whats the point??

i'll try and do some benchmarks tomorrow night at some point as im going out dj'ing tonight :thumb:

cant run a crysis benchmark because i dont have the game to run it :|

3d mark 06 isn't a bad base line for gpu overclocking.

just overclocked my new 5850 :D must be about as good as a 5870 :)?

try a more stressful test with it though as the ati test passes nearly everything and then when you get into a game it crashes, in my experience anyway lol.

just realised i've got my warranty to think about before posting on here lol, i bought the cards from aria so if i start posting all about clocking the twangers off my cards on here and they blow up, aria can refuse to honour the warranty if they see this.
it would be kinda crafty of them though lol. i think if they started keeping track of how people use there equiptment on here people wouldn't post as much.

i tried with afterburner too and it was fine :) played around 2 hours of dirt 2 there and i think i see improvements if im honest. stays about 58 FPS in gameplay but im using fraps to tell me that while im playing :), im going to try and up the voltage a bit as well but afterburner wont let me :|

Now run that with furmark, and I think you will see that everything crashes in a few seconds. My Asus 5850 overclocked to the same as yours when using CCC, but about five seconds of furmark and I had a nice blue screen on my hands. But how did you even get remotely stable without upping the voltage :O

dont know mate i have overclocked it with CCC and afterburner maxed out and played games for a good couple of hours after it and its been stable and made the gameplay a tad bit better than what it was before hand. think it might be good cooling thats got something to do with it maybe? its not even hit 50 degrees yet under full load

There goes the warranty out the window :P.

you can unlock the voltage in afterburner by changing the unofficial overclocking value to (i cant remeber, if its on 1 normally change it to 0 and the other way around) someone will probably post the correct way but i can't remember now and since i bought an msi card i don't need to do it.:)

i wish it could do something about ocing my card.

its againward gtx480 with the OLD APRIL BIOS ie it gets hot furmark and the card gets to 93c full load and settles at 90c

However they have no updated BIOS available and it is rather frustrating as even the parent company Palit has a Bios for their card out!

I have emailed them but no response as of yet. so much for gainward.

I am planning on water cooling the card before the end of the month anyway, but still........

Well thats a super card then. I have the same model and mine overclocked gets well over 50.

I've only managed small overclocks on my gpus and hardly noticed the increase in performance in real world gaming. I really notice an increase in scores when benching though.
