hi all,I've bought a msi P6N SLI Platinum motherboard along with 2x2gb OCZ2VU6674GK memory, however can't get them both to work,if i put them both in slots 1 and 2 it shows up as 4gb single channel at post but as soon as the os loads it crashes.if i put them in 3 and 4 it shows up as 4gb dual channel but fails to boot past post. 1 stick in slot 1 will work ok but only shows up as single channel, and the other stick wont boot past post is this the 2nd stick faulty or an incompatibility with the board, cant find any info on what memory to use on msi's site the url in the manual doesn't exist, on ocz's site it has the board listed but no compatible 2gb memory, please help should i return the sticks

you tried slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 ??

Or as i have said in other threads check the voltage of the ram and set manually in bios, seems most mobo's don't know how to set the memory voltage correctly.

have you tried checking and/or upping the voltages in the bios, like mac suggested?

according to the OCZ page, it can take up to 2.0volts.. so id give it a try at 2v just to see what happens.

Hi thanks again for the reply, after phoning customer services the guy said update the bios, and if that didn't help raise the voltage to 2.1. done that and although it still wouldn't boot with both sticks in slots 1 and 2, its currently working ok at the minute in slots 2 and 4. keeping my fingers crossed thanks again. by the way both xp and vista only see 3gb installed when they are 2x2gb sticks, anyone know why that is ,thanks

3 gb is max on 32 bit editions of xp/vista
for more RAM you need to have the 64 bit edition

Windows XP 32-bit is limited to a total of 4 GB, which is, by default, equally divided between Kernel and application usage. Using the /3GB switch in the boot.ini file forces Windows to limit the kernel to the upper 1GB and provides up to 3GB for applications.

Goto task manager and click performance tab.
Make a screenshot and post it up here.
