Hi there,

This is my second time playing golf. After never playing to start playing now twice in three weeks, I am loving the game.

Anyone around here plays golf?

never played a game of golf in my life, but been to a driving range a few times and im hopelessly pathetic at it - i can only hit the ball when i swing like happy gilmore and even then the ball doesnt exactly go far or even where i aimed it!

Never played proper golf as such, closest i have got is a pitch and put / par 3 9 hole course, it was fun but not really enough to invest in joining a proper club, which is quite expensive and too many silly rules, no shorts or whatever on the course blah blah blah.

However, if I am ever in Manchester, I'll give you a round of crazy golf, Aria  ;)

I quite like golf. I play the odd round when I'm back in Belfast with my grandad.

I'm terrible at it though, but it's all in the name of good fun :D

I like watching the golf on TV, and was addicted to playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour '08 on the Xbox for a while, so yeah, I quite like it :p

Used to be a member of a club Wishaw near the Belfry, and played off 11, but don't get to play so much any more, what with Kids and work commitments.

Would like to get back into playing regularly, but never seem to be able to find the time anymore. :(

i used to play the odd round with my old man, he would travle all over with a few of his mates to play on this course and that, i never caught the bug but i do understand it. its alot like motorsport in the fact that your always chasing that perfect round just like you always try for that perfect lap.

trying to beat your own pb is an addictive pursuit and very rewarding when you get it right.

I started playing just before I went to uni, and now as I'm away for 30+ weeks of the year, it's very difficult to improve. I try and aim for 100 or so on a par 72, which seems pretty rubbish but you have to work in lots of small steps with golf - setting yourself a small targets and not getting disheartened if you have a rubbish round!

However, believe it or not, I have a hole-in-one to my name (173yd par 3 at Newton Green Golf Club, 13th hole). :D

I've got the golf bug at the moment, played 5 times in the last 2 weeks and so far so good. I've improved by 25 strokes over 4 rounds lol but the first couple were truly awful haha

You are very correct. Our sales manager Richard, has put up a huge net and the general manager; Phil has brought in a miniature putting practice! So from time to time we go and play a little during our break and I feel that it has helped me during the last game I played. But it does take lots of little steps to improve in any noticeable way....

Heh, what's the old saying "How to spoil a good walk"?

Not for me I fear - tho' I've a few mates who love it - Make sure you post your golfing ensemble if you do join a club, Chequered trousers and Pringle jumpers FTW!

I've had several opportunities to do golfing lessons for free but just haven't been able to make the time... I quite like the idea of it (who doesn't like hitting things and sinking balls down holes.. LOL).

Maybe in a few years' time. Far too busy at the mo!

Definitely - I think it's also worth shelling out for lessons, just to get you started as it makes a hell of a difference to your game later if you have the basic principles drilled into you early on. Also that's a great idea! :thumb:
