Hi everybody, building a new pc any time now but before I click buy i was wondering if i've chosen my parts wisely. not being too up to speed on the latest cpu's and motherboards my main concern is there. oh and also memory which i already have = is it good enough? am i significantly bottlenecking the system's performance by not having DDR2? it's a gig matched pair corsair XMS2 DDR2 twin 2x.

200gb seagate barracuda 7200.10 8mb #24388
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 retail AM2 #25079
Abit KN9 SLI Socket nF570 AM2 #23042
Seasonic 600w S12 #24287
X-fi xtreme gamer #26290
(few different versions of the X-fi, bit overwhelmed by the choice tbh)

all in an antec nine hundred ultimate gamer, and a beast of an Asus radeon X300SE-X 128mb pci-express for twenty quid. just kidding, that's just to tide me over a few weeks till i buy my 8800!

thanks in advance

You have to use DDR2 memory in a DDR2 mobo, from what you said it seems like you are talking about DDR1 and DDR2. Also, getting an Intel Core2 Duo is sensible at the moment, there more powerful and sensibly priced.

sorry i meant to say am i bottlenecking the system by not having DDR3...

as for the processor, would this do the trick? http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+%2F+Processors/Intel/Core+2+Duo/Intel+Core+2+Duo+E6600+Retail+?productId=23828

motherboard i'm a bit clueless tbh, what about this? http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/Socket+775+%28Intel%29/+Asus+P5N32-E+SLI+PLUS+775?productId=26710

also i saw this comment while browsing just \"After doing a little research I realised that you can only run dual graphics cards for multiple monitor setups with this board. This board has no support for SLI or Crossfire configurations. I am going to wait till Nvidia produce a SLI chipset for the core duo (I'm in no rush I spent the cash I had this month on drives psu etc.) I should imagine it'll be nforce5 based and I hear September is looking good for early versions.\"

does this mean there aren't any good SLI core 2 duo boards out yet?

there are numerous sli boards out there (680 chipset?) but tbh i wouldn't bother with multi gfx cards, more hassle than its worth. Motherboards well i am a big fan of the Asus p5b range either the deluxe or e+ and you wont go far wrong imho.
