Backup for a smartphone?

Well i've got an i5700, it's great and all but the battery rarely lasts more than two days and i'm finding a number of circumstances where i don't want to be carrying a £200 phone around with me. I'm thinking about getting a cheap dumbphone to use as a backup, so i was just wondering what's on offer in terms of really cheap handsets, just for calls and texts, and preferably with a long lasting battery. I had a Nokia 1110i which would be perfect for this (damn washing machine) so lets use that as a benchmark.

I'm on T-Mobile, so i'm looking for something either SIM Free/Unlocked or locked to their network (but preferably not from the site, since they all come with £10 top up... which is money down the drain really).

Another rather unimportant question - now T-Mobile and Orange have merged masts, would i be able to use a phone locked to Orange?

not sure about the locked phones as i thought they was becoming a new company altogether?

those 21xx nokias are almost indestructable and have weeks of bat life as they are just uber basic phones, i have seen them for £30 on the high street with £30 of credit on them and i bet if you got one you could flog the sim and get the phone for a tenner easy.

Hmm, well i've found the VX1 for about £15 new, anybody know how it is? I'm a bit wary of buying a 10 year old used phone, good as they were (even had a few in the house).
