I am getting a new AM3 board/CPU/RAM/Cpu Cooler and am having trouble choosing the CPU cooler and RAM.

Cooler must be able to cope with a 1055T @ 4Ghz

Was Thinking of a Corsair H50? Or a Noctua NH-D14

And what RAM to get?

I was thinking of Corsair XMS3 4Gb DDR3 1333mhz Kit, Or should i go with Corsair Dominator 4GB 1600Mhz?

Will be using a Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P and a 1055T CPU, i already have the 1055T.

Tanks Guys

With RAM get the highest Mhz with the lowest CAS.

The G.Skill Eco is good at 1600Mhz and CAS8.

Edit: You can get OCZ Gold at CAS7 and 1600Mhz like mine.

Agreed. By the way the CAS8 ECO RAM will probably do CAS7 without issue with a tiny nudge in volts. My CAS9 modules did 7-8-7-21 with 1.44v

Hmm, ill take a look at the G.Skill stuff, have some G.Skill stuff now and its great.

Just dont like the look of the OCZ, i know it sounds stupid but if i paying this price for stuff i want it to look nice.

hi sean, for mobo dont settle for less than the crosshair 4, it has to be said that is is definately the best AM3 mobo

cooling.. hmm well martin is still using his true black.. i would ask you.. what is your case ventilation like. what is important to you, noise or cooling? i would recommend the megahalems still it can be had at a snatch over £40 but you need to buy the bracket seperate as well as chuck on 2 uber powerful fans but fitting ram would be a problem... so on that note i would say FFF IT and get the H50 and buy 2 nice fans to go on it for push/pull that was you will have no problem with ram clearance..

Im a bit bored of my TRUE, My case Ventilation is good.

How does the Megahelms compare to a H50? i will be using my 2000RPM fans with 110CFM each.

And about the Mobo's

Here is the problems i have with the Asus

Only 1 Internal USB
Only 6 SATA's
Asus have a GOD AWE-FULL warranty service and i refuse to buy their products.

And i think the Gigabyte one has more features anyway, and 12 Satas

Just get the cheapest and most reliable RAM you can. RAM speed itself makes almost no difference to any real world performance.

fair enough on the UD5 then :)

tbh i have the feeling the megahalems would beat the h50 with the same fans. but the megahalems will cover your ram slots so the h50 might be a better option.

though you need to consider that the h50 needs to draw cool air IN to the case not push warm air out. so fan reversal

i have a h50 on my 955 a lot better then the true black i used to have

Dust would be the only problem here, Perhaps the megahelms would be the best option (quieter too)

Shouldent be a RAM problem as i am not getting RAM with a huge heatsink

It's the one with the most up-to-date results hehe. But I should have two more cooler reviews soon!

i like the looks of the new super ultra mega tron cooler killer one, but its ability is yet to be proven, the d14 is the only other air cooler i would even look at over mine.

@helios

you need to get mine or the arrow 14 on that list mate :thumb:

lapped ifx14 ftw :D

It was on my list to do! I just need to clear a bunch of stuff before I can get back to coolers though. I'll work on it though.

I keep buying the Thermalright U120E (now Rev B). I did look at other coolers for my
new i7 860 build, but the TRUE price has come down a lot since I first bought one,
now only a little over 30, so I figured what the heck. :D

I used a Scythe SFF21F 1600rpm fan before, but this time round I tried a Scythe
Kaze-Jyuni 1900rpm fan instead. It did drop the load temps by a few degrees, but
it's also louder; hopefully with a fan controller it'll be acceptable at more like
1800rpm and still give some extra cooling. The 860 shows load temps of around
75 with Prime95. Btw, I found that redoing the HS attachment, following Arctic
Silver's guidelines on how to apply the thermal paste based on CPU type, really
helped a lot; it dropped temps buy several degrees and resulted in much more
even load temps across the cores. My office environment tends to have a rather
high ambient temp, so this was useful. Arctic's info for Intel CPUs is here:

http://www.arcticsilver.com/intel_application_method.html

while the AMD page is here:

http://www.arcticsilver.com/amd_application_method.html

I also found the overclocking guide on overclockers.com to be exrtemely useful:
