hello everyone
I recently purchased this card :)
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/Nvidia+9000+Series/XFX+GeForce+9800+GT+OC+512MB+GDDR3+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=39583
The problem is that the card I received doesn't seem to support any dvi-vga converters.
It says in the manual "dvi-vga converters are not supported with this model"
Any solutions? other than buying a new monitor:lol:
Try a DVI to VGA cable or send it back and buy something else.
A standard dvi to vga (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Cables/HDMI/Monitor+Cables/DVI+TO+VGA+CABLE+(2m)?productId=9828) should work, I have never heard of problems with them not being compatible as all the conversion is done outside of the card
if the dvi connection doesn't have an analogue pin then unfortunately your stuck other than buying a dvi monitor :(

Thanks for the fast reply guys.
I already have a dvi-vga adapter that i purchased from amazon.

I don't know if its the right one or not.
I tried it but it doesn't work at all.

Or that, Check on the right side of the dvi on the graphics card for a flat pin hole, that's the analogue pin

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but that has the analogue pin hole so it should send an analogue signal when the pin goes in
I'm sure its in the manual for a reason lol.
It doesn't really matter does it if theres an analogue pin or not, he tried it and it doesn't work, manual says it won't work.

You're assuming the connector isn't broke :P
You could always get an active converter, but they are more pricey than the passive one you got

guys i found this review for the card on newegg.
I didn't realize until afterwards that it uses DVI-D (digital) connections only (I assume all the new cards are this way nowadays). This means that you can't just stick on an adapter for an analog VGA monitor. I thought the card was broken at first until I saw the little (*) note in the manual.
If you've got a new monitor that shouldn't be a problem.
Can someone explain it in simple english?

The card only outputs a digital signal(DVI-D) to your monitor, the converter you have converts a analogue(DVI-I) to a vga connection.
So you need an active converter which takes the digital signal and converts it to analogue, a new monitor or a new graphics card unfortunately

Also why did i receive this PV-T98G-YAF3 model when the one i ordered was PVT-98G-YHL4? Quickcode: 39583
There doesn't appear to be a YHL4 model.

ok how do i send it back?
Are you inside 7 days of it being delivered to you?
Send it back mate and get something else.
Agreed. Not too sure on one with a VGA output or DVI-I port in that price range though.

yea i received the card on Friday, July 9. So, what should i do next?
You can create an RMA online form the Aria website.
But i personally would phone Customer Services and do it that way.
Tell them you bought the card and it doesnt accept a DVI to VGA converter so its no good to you, you want to send it back and request an RMA number.
Pack it back up in the box and post it 2nd class recorded, as you will have to pay the return postage.
Either ask for a refund or credit.

Did you go through all the comments on the Aria site for this card?
One response from Aria says:
"this card shouldn't have any problems handling two 1080p monitors via VGA".Is that what you wanted to do? Or am I missing something?
