View Full Version : Toshiba Equium A60 - keyboard sopped working
Hi Guys,
the keyboard has stopped working on my Toshiba Equium A60.
Symptoms, when you start it up, all seems normal, you get a nice bright green LED on the caps lock - which then dims very feint and stays constantly like this.
Non of the keys work - the touchpad and buttons work fine.
The laptop works fine with external keyboard and mouse.
Anyone experienced this or know if this is a common failure - if so of what?
Thanks,
Mark.
I would just open it up and make sure none of the ribbon cables have come loose inside, or any of the clips look like their on the way out. If not, I would buy a replacement keyboard for a tenner or so to start with and see if that makes any difference.
oops, I should have said I have opened it up and reseated the ribbon and same.
I don't think it is the keyboard iteself because of the caps lock LED behavior, where it comes on normally (bright) on boot up but then remains dim but on constantly. So suspect something further down the line... :(
Ah ok - the caps light behaviour was the thing that made me wonder about cables...
I would still suspect something has gone funny inside the keyboard itself..

mmm have you checked the device manager, see if somehow it uninstalled itself.
If not i recommend sending it in for repair, possibly a pc store or back to toshiba themselves.
No idea how much it would be for price wize.
You could also price a keyboard online, just cause u reseated the cable correctly dosent mean that the keyboard itself works. Just a thought :)
Does the keyboard work during post?
Try booting up into safe mode, then uninstall the drivers for the keyboard (can do this with just touchpad) then restart PC into normal mode. Worked for me on another laptop with similar issue.
If not I have a spare A60 keyboard
