Hey guys, just thought id ask in here for some help before i called tech support.

My macbook pro is 6 months old. Runs like a champ on day one upgraded the hard drive , nothing else ever done to it.

Its the 13 inch model. But the last frew days its been running very very oddly.

The temps have been through the roof and its starting to worry me that something could be seriously wrong.

Started off the average was between 40 - 50 temp wise. Which fair enuff it seemed fine.

Well the last few days, its been idle, doing nothing really. It sat on the desk doing nothing bar downloading.

Had utorrent open and it was hitting 80+ degrees.

So i checked the activity monitor and nothin. All that i knew and wanted was running, which was next to nothing.

So someone recommended smc fan control. To monitor the temps and what the fan is at.

And well lets put it this way, right now as i typed this the fan is running at 6200rpm and the temp hasnt dipped below 65. My room is always freezing, cause the windows always open.

I dont use it in a bed or anything it sits on a desk, nothing around it so its all by itself.

Any ideas

If it does go 'pop' you won't be alone. Two of my mate's have melted in the past month and they were getting the same issue as you - high temps for now apparent reason, I believe they took theirs back too the awesome (?) bar and they sorted out a replacement/fix.

My lil sisters boyfriend did that to his and it still overheated and kept shutting down, they refused to fix it as he'd opened it.

see i thought the same thing, cause i had opened it they wont look at it. But i did take the extended warranty and accidental damage.

Think today ill clean the fan out and give em a little phone. I dont want it to go away for a while tho :(

well got it from comet. And i took the extra care. So im a drop it off up there as it should be covered fore repairs and stuff.

Just wondering tho. If they have to replace anything will i still get to keep my hard drive

I would wipe it before taking it in.

Arrange an appointment with your local "Genius Bar" which is in your nearest Apple store. They will replace it there and then.
