Hi John, With Nvidia I found the best way to install a driver was in safe mode. This was on Vista as I have been running ATI for a couple of years now. I suggest you first download the most recent driver for the gpu. Also download and install Driver cleaner pro (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745). Uninstall the old driver and reboot into Safe mode. (Tap F8 at start and select safe mode) then run driver cleaner when booted. This will remove all traces of old drivers. Reboot, install new driver in normal boot mode.

I've had these exact same issues but with ATI, oh and nVidia now actually.

It's really bloody annoying.

Hi John

I'm running an 8800gts (the old one, G80 core) under W7Pro 64 and I've had no problems with driver installation, even without using safe mode. The driver I'm using is 8.17.11.9745.

Is it a driver issue? Could it be the card's not getting enough juice?
