Have to say it was an anti-climax at the end when the US scored, I knew we needed to get the second goal, and whilst we did get through we have made the task much much tougher, esp with a potential quarter-final with Argentina.
Just hope we can take our chances on Sunday otherwise they will punish us, just need to keep the confidence up.
I think it'll be a fantastic game regardless who wins, England finally looked worthy of something on wednesday and Germany hasn't got its strongest team.
I'll be happy having a BBQ and drinking a few, got my old Ballack shirt washed in preparation, might need to buy an Ozil shirt....

seeing as we had one of the easiest groups in the tournament and BARELY made it through, im not so optimystic about todays match - realistically i reckon we'll get beat by "Zee germans" 2-0.
Reason being, our defence isnt as strong as it should be with the players that are in there. Hesky is a waste of space when he tries to shoot when he should be passing it Rooney to finish, however Rooneys finishing ability has also been questionable aswell!

nothing to do with cappelo. he is not to blame, its the lack of quality in that england side atm, the players are playing poorly and theirs not much control that the manager has over that.

The team were 100% rubbish. They played appallingly, regardless of any dodgy decision by the ref. The best they could have hoped for, even if the ref had called the 2nd goal right would be 4-2, which is still awful.

Argentina Vs Germany should be good for one semi final and i reckon Brazil Vs Portugal for the other.
At least it wasn't painful to watch, Germany ruthlessly dispatched us, and rightly so.

What a load of rubbish. At least I will not have to sit through any more poor performances from England this world cup.
I would keep only a small handful of players for the next squad and totally rebuild from scratch.
Most of the squad are too old or too rubbish to be considered for the next major tournamant, the ONLY exception for the squad i would make is a sub-spot for Beckham because hes a Talisman

Hardly think playing basically the same side 4 games in a row counts as chopping n changing. Any changes he made were forced due to injury/suspension.

The side was changed a lot. Heskey was dropped, then carragher out and then same for Lennon.

England players are only good when each player plays in the exact same role as they do for their club, the simply cant adapt and run round like headless chickens with no clue what to do.
Capello must have known this simply because he gave them every chance to master ONE system (4-4-2) and they couldnt even get that right.

The referees in World Cup 2010 are in "low" quality... Due to the mistake of stupid referee, Argentina was given a goal although Tevez was if off-side position. Pity on Mexico...
I dont think Capello is just to blame, look at it this way, England were a joke before Capello took over, then we have an amazing qualifying route to the finals with the same formations that were used to play in the finals..... Then it all falls apart, Captain Terry is no more, Captain Rio gets injured in training, Gerrard takes over :eek:
There was no passion, no commitment, no leadership on the pitch.
If Capello does stay in charge, then he needs to change the style England play.

stop bitching about the goal that should have been, end of the day germany were vastly superior and fully deserved their win. the refs had a good game bar that one incident and its not as if the english haven't had their fair share of luck in the past. unfortunately these kind of things happen in sport. just part of the game im afraid. referees/umpires can make mistakes just like players can

It's a goal, not a foul or off-side or yellow card... If England levels Germany 2-2, the game will be more interesting and you will never know who will win at the end...
if that goal had counted, England may not have been so deserate to score another and would have played so offensively in the 2nd half.
when the ball was in Germany's half we was dominant with attempts to score but as soon as they got the ball in our half our defence crumbled!

That second disallowed goal if allowed would have kept up team moral and the game would have been far more exciting and we would have played far better football. We would have lost still but probably 3-2 as England would have pushed alot harder.
Capellos choice of player positioning and sub choices was also very poor.
England needed far more friendlys against teams such as france, Spain, Italy, Portugal etc to work up to a playable standard.. Without these it was a guessing game that proved the team was just not ready. A poor showing on all accouts unfortunately.

i know this is hard to swallow. i understand as another football fan how you feel but the fact remains that england were terrible and were largely outplayed throughout and you can speculate how the goal "MIGHT" have changed the game but in reality it doesn't matter, they weren't good enough, haven't been in any of their games and didn't deserve to beat a better german team.
At least Sepp Blatter had apologised to FA and will discuss the use of technology to aid referees.

Do not pick players from top Premier League teams. They earn lot of money per week so they may not have high spirit to fight for the country. Those players are good just because their club teams have good defenders, midfielder, and forwarders from around the world.

Actually it's nto a bad idea really. Doesn't have to be a German but a foreign coach at under 21's and an English coach for the senior team. Klinsmann is a good shout.
There needs to be a progression from the U 21's to the senior's, that is what other countries have. They used to do Under 23 Internationals which would be a good idea but I suppose they wouldn't due to fixture pile up.
being scottish i did lol for a bit but at the end of the day england have had one bad tourney, they have good players in all positions and to be fair it would have been a totally different game if they had started the second half 2-2 heads went down and never came back up
