Hi,

Im having a bit of a dilema atm, my clear 550W PSU has developed an irritating buzzing sound and i just dont trust it to carry my system so it has been removed.
Now i need a replacement that is compatable with my motherboard which is a socket 939 asus a8v-deluxe.

I have quite a lot of hardware in it, 5 HD's, 4600+ X2, 7800GS... so i need a decent amount of power to it, the 550 was fairly stable and i dont want to stray too far from that (not sure what the min is i can use).

I was looking at the Hiper 580W True Power PSU or the 530W version, just not sure if they have the correct 20 pin connector (plus the 580 is out of stock). Failing those could anyone recommend a reliable PSU that would work...

Thanks.

Hi,

Iv seen bad reviews about Hiper PSUs on this forum so that has currently put me off from Hiper PSUs.

SV 550w SilentLoad 20 & 24+SATA PSU

OR

600W ATX SurgeControl Power Supply (CHEAPER)

Should be fine for you.

Thanks

Micky around here we try and steer people AWAY from £15 psu's and any one who knows anything about system building would do the same  They might be \"ok\" for your average net surfing pc but for something a bit more power hungry avoid like the plague.

SteeveyO Something like the Tagan 580 would be a nice psu i have owned a few 480's and they have never let me down, if you can afford to spend a bit more and have plans for a future upgrade then the Seasonic 600 would be nice (running my gaming rig off of one at the mo) Any thing by the likes of Tagan / OCZ / Enermax / Seasonic and you wont go far wrong, just avoid no name psu's.

I just built a system for someone using the Tagan 580w. Really pleased with the results. First thing I did was take the generic PSU out and used it to hold the door open! ;)

Thanks for the replies, really helpful. Thinkin of ordering the Tagan, seems to have 8 molex connections which would be great (old one had 6 and i had to use a couple of splitter cables).

The OCZ one looks good, just it seems to have limited molex connectors, one of the aims was to reduce the need for splitters...
