View Full Version : Projectors?
What are your views on them? should i get one?
depends on the wall space available and how far away you will be.
If you live at home don't bother in your bedroom, unless its huuuuuuuuuuuuge.
Yeah i guess, i do have a pretty big wall free. But i guess i would have to mount it and replace the bulbs.
I want a PJ but the misses wont let me get one :( I've got a perfect wall in my Dinning room to project onto and would be ace with my consoles hooked upto....
Check some of the setups on AVForums for why you should get one ;)

I have a projector that I used to game on. My room isn't that big, in fact it's pretty tiny but if you mount the projector in the right place you can get good results.
I mounted mine on top of a big shelf stack thing of which the top was fairly close to the ceiling. I didn't "mount" it as such, I sat it on blobs of blu-tack upside down pointing at the opposite wall which is about 3.5m away (the longest part of my room).
The projection was the equivalent of a 65" screen (approx). I mounted 5.1 speakers around the room. The projector itself has a native of only 800x600 but the quality was still good; halfway between SD (480) and HD (720) I suppose.
Such a setup is ideal for gaming and watching tv/movies but not much else. Bear in mind that a projector makes a fair noise and produces a fair bit of heat. There is also the bulbs which generally last for about 200 hrs depending on model (some more some less) and can cost £100 - £300 I think. If you game very frequently then a screen may be better.
Another idea, something I did in Edinburgh where our flat had a high ceiling was to project onto the ceiling. This is good for watching TV and movies in bed, great for lazy gits like me... :weeee
Projectors a very expensive but they are great in the living room if you get one with high brigtness so you can use it in the day

i would love a 1080p projector but there so bloody expensive :(
Hence the budget question.
If your thinking of spending less the 5k, Dont get a projector.
