View Full Version : New Feature - Public Wish Lists
Just announcing a new feature on the aria website which will hopefully be useful to users of this forum.
In the past the aria website has always had 'Favourite Products' lists. The first change is that these have now been changed to 'Wish Lists' which I feel is a more obvious / self-explanatory name.
The more interesting change, which will hopefully be helpful to users of this forum, is that it is now possible to make these lists publicly available. Previously a 'Favourites' list was only available to it's owner, when logged into the aria website.
Now, if you view a wish list in the usual place in the 'My Aria' section of the website, you should see an additional option to 'Make Public'. If you click this the Wish List will become visible, and the URL on which it will be available will be shown.
Here's a little system I threw together as an example:
https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/ROtxTlJwha3hMpNrS66h1Q,,
Hopefully this will be useful as an alternative to taking-uploading-linking screen shots as people do at present, and of course people can use it to spec up systems for friends/relatives etc., or put together systems for themselves and then post links to it here for review and suggestions.
Have fun. As always, feedback is welcome/appreciated.

Good addition - perhaps change the pricing structure though as currently it displays the price for single Item X even when the quantity is 2+.

Is there any way to have a total at the bottom? :)
Nice work :D would agree with aaron, would be nice to have a totals thing. Also it might just be me but it takes a long time to load... other than that, brill stuff!

Well spotted, thanks.

Yeah should be doable. Of course in the meantime you can get the price by adding the lot to the shopping basket ;).
Great idea. I think this will be used loads on here.

From what I read here, some people might prefer "Lust After" lists rather than "Wish Lists". Or "Waiting for payday lists".
We now need a 'can actually afford list' :D

Cool - that'll get used a lot in the "Spec me up" section :thumb:
you just want us to buy you all those lovely components don't you :P
Brilliant idea, I often have to supply screen shots/product codes when people ask for some ideas on what to buy and this solves the problem, makes it nice and easy. Great job
Very nice little feature. Here is one from me: Click Here (https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/YvSEWFy7gOtTsFeBwjRsFw,,)
Would you be able to make a search-able database of builds? or an all build list?
I'm just think because over on the NT forum, we started to build a thread with different builds in at different price points and different needs. i figured this would work quite well for a similar sort of thing

This should make "Spec me" threads much easier now!:)
*has not read past the OP so apologies if I repeat a previous comment*
This very much reminds me of Amazon wish lists which can also be set to Private or Public. Many years ago when the defunct Special Reserve was trading, i remember when one of the forum members purchased something in another members wish list, as a gift to be sent to the other member.
I wonder if that'd take off here if it were possible!

good work :D
Thanks for the further feedback.

That's a really good idea, however I think that once I've applied the initial fixes (show total price etc) which will happen "soon", we'll probably leave it to settle in for a while as there are a few other niggling issues I need to deal with first. It's definitely something we'll give thought to though, I can see how it would be useful.

Yeah that was my thought exactly. This should be useful for non-forum customers too, but having seen how often people cut-and-pasted screenshots of their shopping baskets into the 'spec me' threads this struck me as a really obvious improvement.

Yeah that's another thing which occurred to me, and it's something we might do in the future. However it would need to be thought out carefully as it's a bit open to abuse (e.g. every time you want to buy something, you get a mate to make a wish list, buy it from there, and they get a free gift - could get a bit out of hand - or people could even create a second account to do the same thing). But something along those lines might happen eventually, indeed.

I can dream :). I wish I could afford a system like that myself :P.
Great idea! Shame about my bank balance!
Good luck with that, the amount of heat chucked out by meaty graphics cards are phenomenal, the best you'd do it Micro-ATX
No, Aaron moved the other post and left mine here .... -_-
:chairfall: :chairfall: sorry bud..
Must've been moving it as you posted, and you got left behind.. I'll leave it here for comedy value :D
Now that's handy !!! Thanks
It's okay, I dont particually care :L
I was a bit 0_O when if saw it was gone.

thx jax
The wish list feature is cool! Could improve it slightly by showing the price total when you look at it in 'myAria/wishlists'.
Can see the total when it's made public by clicking the link, but not when going through myAria (tested a few times, could just be me).
