View Full Version : Worth having more than 1 exhaust?
My antec 300 case will soon be as full is it can get with case fans and internal fans. From what i assume the fan at the back is an exhaust fan (could be wrong) but in any case with a total of 2x 120mm front, 1x 120mm side, 1x 120mm top and 2x 120mm CPU fans is it worth changing the fan on the side to an exhaust?
I found by changing the airflow on my Antec 902's side fan to exhaust, my GPUs temp's came down a little. Basically because they are not rear venting and waft the warm air around the case. Your GPU I suspect will not get too hot though.

bit confused the 300 comes with 2 rear exhaust fans did you remove one?
only comes with 1 rear fan full stop mate, the only place theres slots for 2 is at the front

I counted the one on the top for a rear lol
one on the top + one on the rear are both exhaust so you already have 2 exhausts
that's why the thread title confused me
i like to have fans pushing more air into a case than those sucking it out, mainly so i have control over where it comes in as if you have it the other way around air will get sucked everywhere including thru your disk drive. as im sure you know lasers and dust bunnies dont play well, have contol over where it comes in is handy too as you can direct the cooler air towards and over the hotter parts of your pc.
a rule of thumb i tend to go by is front, bottom and side in with the back and top being out. execptions to this are like what SD stated about the gpu cooler. if it doesn't exhaust out the back of the case you can be better having a fan on the side pulling that heat away before it gets near the rest of the system. those pci slot exhaust fans can help lots with this type of gpu heatsink too
