View Full Version : Problems
I tried switching my processor from a celeron D to a core 2 duo. When I turned the computer on tho the screen stayed black. :S This happened before when I first build the computer with a core 2 duo. So I thought it must be this type of processor that won't go with the mother board.
So I tried switching back to my Celeron D which worked before but now gives the same result as the core 2 duo. Just a black screen :S. I don't know what I have done but it's not good :(
any advice?
First thing I would do would be to try and reset the bios using the jumper on the motherboard.
You sure the processor is seated correctly?
Make sure the heatsink is making contact with the processor and isn't slightly jagged.
Does the fan spin on turn on?
Does everything else seem to be working? Just no picture?
Ok I tried the jumpers already did nothing at all.
Second the fan spins the CPU seems in fine. All the connectors on the heat sink are down and clicked in fine. The CPU isn't giving off any heat :?. The Hard drive starts up but I don't get the normal noises I do when it is loading up windows (I mean the general noise you get when you computer is working hard.)
I don't get any picture at all and my monitor says there is no singal. I don't think its the connections I think it's just the CPU isn't doing anything at all what so ever to send anything to the monitor :(.

No no LED's only the one on the front of my computer (which does light up) and yeah the only thing I have touched is the CPU that is all :(

Yeah The Hard drive is fine.
I just fixed the celeron D processor turns out there was a little bit (tiny amount) of dust on the pins.
But I still can't get the core 2 duo to work :? same problem still. Just to make sure the \"Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300\" will work with the \"Asrock 775i945GZ\" motherboard I was told on these forums it would but I just want to check :)...
8| so that is a no...
if so I am royally screwed I have spend £200 on 2 of these processors 8|!
Oh crap anyone any suggestions on a new motherboard that will support everything the old one does but with the added extension of this processor as well? :'(
Basically mate, choose your budget, have a look at what motherboards are within your budget.
Do a little research on it to make sure it has everything you need and there is no known problems with it.
Then purchase it. :D
Best way to be sure you have 100% compatability.

?
Google is your friend 8|. It's just I don't want to make the same mistake as before that is all  but I think I have found one so thanks again everyone
Which board you thinking of going for dude? 8)
(On a side note, i just read what you said and decided to \"Google\" \"GIYF\" and yeah..... long day!)
Make sure it's a 965 board, 945's were never designed to work with C2D's.
