View Full Version : Which settings affect the "NB frequency"?
Please kindly advise which settings of a motherboard (e.g. GA-X58A-UD3R) that affect the "NB frequency". As you can see in the image below, the NB frequency of my board is 3200MHz at the moment. Is it too high? Is there a limit for this NB frequency? Thanks.

overclocking the memory, and then what ever ratio the mobo may have set,
Looks to be at stock at the mo..

The NB Frequency for your board is set by a combination of BCLK x Uncore.
If you start manually overclocking it's best to fix the Uncore multiplier around x16 and keep NB frequency around 3.2GHz
My BCLK is set as 160 whilst the RAM multiplier is set as 10x.
My BCLK is set as 160 whilst the RAM multiplier is set as 10x.
Therefore your Uncore must automatically have been set to x20 by the BIOS giving you a NB Frequency of 3.2GHz.
From what I've read, NB Frequency doesn't have much of an impact on system performance (i.e. it's far from the bottleneck at 3.2GHz), still doesn't hurt to make sure it is set at a reasonable level when reaching for a high overclock.
