View Full Version : Would this RAM work?
Just for the sake of me not wasting my money, I plan on adding another 2GB memory into my computer. I plan on going with this (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR/DDR400+%28PC3200%29/+OCZ+2GB+Kit+DDR+PC-3200+%2F+400MHz+%2F?productId=21431) and I currently have one of these (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR/DDR400+%28PC3200%29/+Arianet+High+Perf.+1GB+DDR400?productId=23941) The motherboard i've got is an AsRock 939SLI-eSATA2 and it seem's as though it would work, but I just wanted some other confirmation that it would before ordering away.
Cheers.
Yep it'll work the biz, I have the non-sli version of your board and that mem, works a treat. :)
Ah you're planning on adding those to the existing stick? Just be aware that although it'll work together, you won't get Dual Channel mode unless you ditch the old stick.
Alrighty, thanks for the help.
Hmm not sure 3 sticks would work at all tbh but as previously said it might but not in dual channel.

Not necessarily, it's because sticks two and three are identical but the older one isn't. Also, you can't do dual channel with three sticks unless the single stick is equal to the sum of the other two sticks. And, it must the same manufacturer and type.

I mustve fluked it then, as I have 1x512mb Elixir, 1x256mb Elixir and 1x256mb Corsair XMS in one of my boxes, and it runs dual channel!
The 512 is on one channel, and the 2x256 are on another. But they definately arent the same make!
Lucky indeed, they may both have the same chips on the sticks :)
I thought dual channel only worked if you used either 2 sticks or 4 sticks of same type..therefore 1 stick or 3 sticks run in single channel
