Just thought id share

Pc is about 12 months old now - getting a bit down with its performance in games and i think im requiring a re-upgrade...


Spec:

Microsoft Windows XP Pro x64 Edition
Intel 640 cpu
Asus P5GDC-V Deluxe
2x NEC DVD-rw
2x 1gb DDR2 667 Corsair RAM
1x gatewatch temperature control
2x 80gb seagates in raid1 (sata)
1x 250gb seagate (sata)
AOC LM720A 17\" LCD monitor
PNY 6600GT PCI-E Graphics card,
Gigabyte 3d Water cooler (from aria, brilliant buy !!)
450w coolermaster psu with watt-meter (this spec uses 300w power flat out...)

Unlike someone else i was reading just, i didnt have any problems fitting this water cooler, and the pipes are extremely secure on this one.. :)

Spec (of my server): comp used for my donkey work (downloading, FAH project, etc.), made from a 5/6 year old TIME machine.

Windows server
AMD Althon 2400+
GA-7VKML (gigabyte mobo)
1x80gb seagate ide
1x160gb seagate ide (noticing a trend with seagate..? :lol: )
stored in garage so need no fans monitor, mouse or keyboard,
onboard 32mb graphics
(NO working sound =( )


Wanting to get rid of the main specs:cpu,mobo and graphics card for new kit. Also wanting a full tower if you do them, with windows etc. if possible ? anyone know anywhere that does this ?? comments on machine welcome :)

Yours is getting a bit down in performance?! Mine is about 4 years old! ;) I think I bought the bits from aria back then too, actually!

Its a:

AthlonXP 2400+ @2321 (221x10.5)
Abit NF7-S v1.1
1Gb Corsair
XFX6800GS-16pipes/6vp unlocked
2x160Gb Drives in Raid0

Thats the important bits anyway. Wanna swap? It'll play Oblivion on high settings! ;)

Think i found the bottle neck in my sys...

My mobo is clocking my RAM at 533 and its giving me timings of...

Cas# Latency 4.0 clocks
Ras to Cas Delay 4 clocks
Ras Precharged 4 clocks
Cycle time 12 clocks

is that slow ? i thought it was - could be the bottle neck in my sys...


Its corsair VS MEMORY (i must of ordered the wrong one then never noticed..)


XMS is £67 for 1gb dimm(aria is sold out), would i be better off with this in the DDR2 slot, althoug this will be underclocked too - i need a new mobo but im waiting for the new nvidia intel 590 SLI board....(and possibly a core duo 2 extreme cpu:) )

what do you think ?? would i be able to sell my DDR2 to someone to get the cash too ya think ? :p :oops:

Was looking about and im thinking about getting an:

Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe -- However this doesnt support CORE CPU's and thats what ill be wanting in the future -


another PNY 6600GT to go in the sli (these any good - ive got one and its pretty good but will putting it in SLI give me a big boost?) only £80 now from aria :)

PNY SLI recommended RAM :) DDR2 800mhz tho- not the 667...

Another radiator for my watercooler - Can you add more than one - i cant think of any problems ??

very fast timings i saw =)

any ideas ? also that thermaltake case i found looks nifty and its gonna take alot to impress me..

I have a few systems of which 90% of the part's came from Aria. Here's the specs for my system.

Pentium 4 - 2gig
1.5gig DDR RAM
40gig HD - Server has all files
128Mb GeForce 4

And I have no probs with gaming.
