View Full Version : Returning my RAM
Hello,
Sorry to be posting this kind of thing as I understand Customer Support questions have no place here - but I'm actually unsure of what to do next and this could save time in the long-run.
Basically, on the 7th of March (two weeks ago unless I can't count), I returned a stick of RAM (obviously after having submitted an RMA Request), which, according to RoyalMail.com, arrived at Aria on the 9th. I am expecting the RAM to either be sent back, replaced, or refunded - but it has almost been 2 weeks since Aria received the return, without any contact whatsoever. Should I be worried?
Thanks in advance.
I did the same thing with some ram three weeks ago m8, and I've herd nothing yet.
The RMA thingy won't even let me send my ram at all. Bugger.
Hi Ricko97,
Can you PM me your RMA num please? Or alternatively, post the ref here: http://www.lucyslair.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2350
Thanks!

Alright,
Apologies for bumping this, but I am actually in a rather knotty situation.
Where to start? Well... here is an explanation of my RMA (this is exactly what I sent in the RMA request):
\"I once ordered an upgrade for my computer from Aria (order reference: EC737860). Part of the order was a \"Crucial 512MB 184-PIN DIMM DDR 3200\" stick of RAM (Product code: CT6464Z40B). Recently I ordered a second upgrade, and it included another of the exact same type of RAM (with the same product code). With this upgrade I was hoping to run both modules on Dual Channel on my motherboard.
The module I received with the first order is \"double-rank\" (meaning it has chips on both sides). However, the module I received with the second order is only \"single-rank\" (chips on only one side). This is a big enough difference to prevent them from running on Dual Channel, but otherwise they are -exactly- the same (as I said, they also have the same product code).
I ordered the second module expecting it to be -exactly- the same as the first, and to be able to run them on Dual Channel, but because of this minor difference, I am unable to. The Aria website makes no mention of the memory being single-rank or double-rank.
-------
I sent an email to customer services with all the above details, and this is the response I got:
\"As long as you can repack it as know there should be no problem with returning it for a double rank stick. Please fill out the RMA form on our website.
Regards
James Froggatt\"
Basically, I would like to send back the single-rank version of this Crucial 512MB module (CT6464Z40B) in exchange for a double-rank version of it. If Aria does not stock them, I would like to cancel this RMA.
Thank you.\"
So I returned the stick and even sent a note along with it, explaining briefly what I said in the RMA.
Now, I understand Aria was having problems just as I returned it, but they had my RAM and my money for over 6 weeks, and I received no contact (apart from a message or two between me<->Lucy<->CServ, thank you Lucy!). Just today, I received an email. A very, very disappointing one.
Believe it or not, they sent the RAM to their testing department, found the stick to be non-faulty and have given me 60 days to collect it. I don't want that!!!!! I clearly stated, twice, that I wanted the stick to be replaced with a double-rank version of it, or at the very least, to have it refunded. I refuse to collect a stick of RAM that I knew was in perfect working condition to begin with! Gah!
In my honest opinion, this is some of the worst Customer Service I've seen, for a very, very long time.
So, anyone have any suggestions? I'm going to type up an email and send it to them but I have a gloomy feeling it will yield no results. Not good ones, at least.
This has been sorted, part thanks to Lucy I hear (<3). I should be getting a refund soon.
Now, I have another small problem. Maybe some of the long-time members here can pitch a suggestion or two - should I risk buying the stick again and hope it's double-rank? Should I phone up sales and arrange something? Or should I buy elsewhere? :?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.
EDIT: I just realised I should have probably posted this elsewhere as it isn't a discussion with Lucy but a question to anyone in general. Sorry for inconvenience.
Personally i would recommend buying a dual channel set and selling the stick you have, it might be the single sided stuff is a new revision or something.
Sounds good. If I run two sticks on Dual Channel, do you think it's safe to use the one I have as a third, one the second channel? Sorry for all the questions.
EDIT: OK, just conferred with my brother, it's a no-no. I'll sell it 8) Thanks!
