View Full Version : Grrr Wireless Is Really Getting On My ****ing Nerves !
Hi,
Ok yesterday i bought a new router/access point. Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router and so far iv had nothing but trouble. All the time my wireless is disconnecting and then connecting again. Im using it on Channel 12. My motherboard is Asus P5W DH Deluxe and im using the Built In Wireless on there. I did have a D-Link access point and i had no problems. the reason why i bought a new one is because iv had the D-Link for around 3 years now and thought it might be a good time for an upgrade. oh and also because D-Link support is a load of crap and also because some times i would have a lag spikes when playing online games.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
What distance are you from the router?
Can you replace the link with wire? SO you can see if it is the router or the wireless? And yes wireless can be very flakey. I am not sure why but in some environments it is fine and others it just doesn't work. I have also found in general USB adapters are worse. Just my experience. Use wireless at home and if the WAP is in the right place I can get it from all over the house move it a bit and half the house disappears. I tried to set up a BT home thingy over wireless for a friend and it would not even work consistently ups a single flight of stairs. The going up and down though was the BT line and did it over wire as well as wireless.
Hi,
I think it may be faulty.
As iv noticed that both my computer lose internet coonection (cable and wireless).
Iv also noticed when i lose connection the Power light flash's on and off. Which it isnt ment to do. It only does that if you take the plug out and plug it back in. So its as if the router is restarting itself all the time for some reason :-(
Ill try contact Linksys tomorrow and see what they can do for me.
Thanks

I find a... Rugby type Drop kick usually sorts out wireless routers.
M...
lol mighty, ok a few things you can try. Put it on wireless channel 11, thats usually better, try upgrading the firmware for that model. more instructions will be on the linksys website. after the firmware is done. unplug it from the wall. wait a minute and power it back up, otherwise known as a power cycle. Hope one of these helps

The problem is not because of the wireless as Micky007 has already mentioned that he is also getting the same problem when connect via cable,
Might be the problem is of the firmware, so I'll suggest to upgrade the firmware, if the firmware upgrade doen't solve the problem then it is sure that the power supply is faulty, so try connecting the router with another power supply unit but the power supply unit must be of the same specifications as the old one you got with the original router.
Then reply about the progress.
Lots of WiFi routers went through a phase of firmware updates to cure connection spikes so it would definitely be worth updating.
Go cable round the house instead.
