Hi everyone, I have a phenom 555 which is unlocked, But try to clock it pass 3.6ghz was hard. Require high voltage
I have a relative small case for the system, lian li pc-60. Do u think that is affecting it. The CPU temp from sensor is about 60 degree.

The pc-60 is an old case now bud.. 2001?? I would think its pushing temps up yes! Something like an antec 300 would be a nice purchase. You could even sell your pc60 to me
:P

Yeah. I will find a way of using the PC60. May be changing the Fan to 12cm see how much change it will be... If not, I am thinking of getting Lian Li P50R
Tell us what voltages your using, what cpu cooler your using and your bios settings, make sure you have got everything safe, and right.

Here is the setting. Bus speed 312, Ht link at 24xxmhz, core speed at 3.577ghz, core voltage is 1.472
HT link needs no more than to be 2200. the NB speed of 2400 should give you a nice little boost to performance, the cores choke without higher NB. But voltage is safe :)

Just to ask a question. Whats the effect on dropping Ht link?
I've just come across this thread. I have my 555 also unlocked to 4 cores and managed to get 4GHz with a Titan Fenrir. I have to put a fairly large voltage through (just over the AMD recommended voltage) to get it onto the settings I use as I prefer to increase the bus speed as opposed to increasing the multiplier (lower performance and in my experience less stability by just raising the multiplier).
I'll reboot and take some photos of my BIOS settings soon, just a bit busy atm. Just as a reference point, I get an idle temperature of ~28oC, load ~46oC with these settings - my Fenrir automatically spins up to 100% speed on hitting 45oC. If you're on the stock cooler, it's well worth getting a new HSF.

I m currently running a zalman 9700. The temp go to about 60 degree at full load. due to room temperature is quite high.
I was thinking increase HT link won't it increase performance instead of raising the multiplier?
BIOS Settings (just included a CPU-Z ss showing 4GHz too)

Obviously some of my settings (particularly voltages) are quite high and I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but I have 5 case fans and a Fenrir so temperatures are low and hence I'm not that concerned. Plus I haven't really "played" that much, haven't had time with exams recently.

i wish i could push as far as you could. mine is like this

That reach the top temperature already.
Wow, that is a very high bus speed - no wonder it's running hot. Are you on the stock cooler?? Try dropping to 250 bus and 14x multiplier and see if that's stable/cooler than your current config. If so, bump and test in 0.5x increments.
your multiplier is very low, is that stock for this chip ? i have the 550 be and stock multiplier is 15.5
Ropster - stock for the 555 is 16x, basically the same as you (apart from new stepping). Are you on 4 cores? What's your OC?
no only 2 cores but running at 3632 at the moment

Well. It is stable now. Temperature is 60. using a Zalman 9700led cooler
But I have try lower bus speed, but only slightly cooler to about 57degree with core speed slightly higher about 37xx.But just wondering about the performance which is better. High bus speed or higher core speed

U should unlock them. It is fun! when u see your CPU name change:knock:
Yeah, I'd also unlock them Ropster ;D if you're on Win7 you'll notice the difference. How's the shuttle? Does it get hot??
Enzo - in my books I refer to core/bus as being the same thing. Intel had the "front side bus" on their Core 2s, and my MSI mobo mis-names core as bus speed, just a bad habit I've picked up. Either way, it's better overclock the core/bus than multiplier... but pushing to 300MHz is probably stressing your RAM to the max. What speed have you got it rated to?
wish i could but there isnt the option on the shuttle mobo,
the shuttle is great but it can get a bit toasty when realy pushing the pc, 20 mins of GTA iv (if it runs that long without crashing) and the side next to the gpu is very hot to the touch but i have a pci slot blower next to it so it doesnt realy heat up the rest of the case

Well. I think the ratio is 3:8. But this system can run Prime 95 for 6hrs without breaking...then i stop it..coz is time to go for sleep:D
