:confused:End of the financial silly season and I've been given the opportunity of building a video/music editing machine. Any suggestions on the following, AMD based machine preferred.

Two 23/24 inch monitors running off one card. One (maybe two) 37" to 42" HDMI TV's off a second card. Will be running from the Adobe Master Suite collection, Photoshop, Premiere etc. All the ram I can cram in with seperate DVD-RW's and Blue-Ray RW (do not know why just the spec given).

Idea is to edit and add etc with constant notes (off hand written tablet device) in the smaller monitors for instant comparative display (as the customer - charity really, sees it) before and after on the TV's.

All the onboard SATA devices will be used and an offboard SATA set as well. Any ideas MOBO, cards etc. I say a for the money a model - T is being made where a Ferrari is needed. But there again whom am I to know?

Whoops sorry, forget the TV's and the monitors for the moment and try to squeeze what you can out of £750. More is possible but a quart out of a pint pot is sought. If you can get it cheaper then of course more options. The displays are already being begged for!

My stab at it...

I'd go for the i7 860 or i7 930. NOT an i5 750, HT is your FRIEND here and the system will suffer without HT.

As much ram as you can fit into the budget for photoshop and video editing. (min 6GB)

A decent video card like the 5770 or even the 4870/90 if DX11 doesn't matter.

Spend the most on good quality 2ms monitors, don't cheap out here.

Let's see what you have left for a motherboard...

You missed the monitors. But other than that, it's a nice system...

I think we are going to go really budget here... let me take a stab at it..

...wait...does he need the 2 monitors in the quote??

Thanks girls and boys, I think they are trying to shoehorn everything in at a really tight budget. See if I can ease the knicker strings a bit. Still thanks for scouring the ether.

Do you think there is any merit going the fastest AMD Phenom road as there is a keeness to use these processors.

i7 is really what you want to be using for Video Editing, but I'm sure an AMD system will do fine if you really want to go that route.

El Wayneo's build looks good, you could also get more performance out of the system by overclocking the processor. i7 920 D0s are very clockable and you have all the parts bar better cooling for a decent overclock, in that quote.
