Hi,
Seen a few of you talking about bikes on here in the past, and a few people seemed to know what they were talking about
Been looking in my local bike shop (which I assume will be alot more expensive than online) and really like the look of the GT/Giant/Scott sort of bikes, although most of them were between £600 and £850
I just want a mountain bike that looks good and 'performs' well, using it on roads and sometimes off road, but no major downhill stuff!
Just looking round it looks like I might have to settle for something other than a GT or Giant, as they are quite pricey.
Just looking for some advice basically on what websites are good for bikes really?
Thanks
don't get a full sus for your budget.
Hardtail, with a front sus fork only.
£250 really doesn't give you a lot of choice, check out Paulscycles.co.uk they have some bargains from previous seasons.
Got my Kona Coiler for £700, when the year before it was selling for £1400!
for example this is better than anything you'll get in halfruads
not bad component spec for the cash

I forgot you used to pay more for your bikes than you did your cars...
The Heckler frame only cost £1150., bargain!

Yeah was looking at hardtrails, from past experience, don't like full sus.
I know £250 isn't that much when I want a decent bike, £300 max maybe?
The Kona is a nice bike, is that where your username came from? :p Shame I haven't got that much to spend :(

Yeah, looked at Halfords, they were terrible. Pic shows disks, but it won't be for that price, surely?

discs front and back! mechanal though not hydraulic, but even so a bargain for the price!
This is a cracking buy, real nice geometry, good components (but may be over budget) - but they do offer interest free i think!

or the GT

looking through all the sub £400 the Kona Blast gets the best reviews, most solid frame and all round bike for on road/off road. Scores 10 in MBR and check out the MTBR feedback - impressive

Ooh nice :) Mechanical will be better for me, although the hydraulics are arguably better, the mechanical will be cheaper to repair and easier to maintain.
Will take a look at those, found this Mongoose - http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s2p2590
Not sure how it is, looks ok, my Mongoose BMX a few years ago was great.
2008 model is cheap here - http://www.discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=141&products_id=7423
Just give me an avalanche! :( Might just get one, only an extra £100, merrr
