What are your thoughts on these ? or the ALC cooler principle in general
For a general purpose rig, video converting, movie watching downloading etc etc, no gaming, not overclocking
I'm considering options for reducing the the air flow through my PC, and these look interesting

It's fairly loud so as a media solution, it might not be the way to go. But it is possible to use other fans or reduce the fan speed. Something like a Noctua NH-C12P might be a good alternative. It's quiet and relatively small. What CPU are you running?

at the moment an old FX60 which copes quite well considering, and is not too much of a heat monster.
my main issue is a harsh environment, and the pc acting like a huge air purifier !!!
these units whilst designed to be internally fitted, i'm thinking with a little sideways thinking i could get the fan and rad outside the case, easy to clean that way and not drawing air through the pc ;)
noise might be an issue, but i doubt it, i have a ups in the room that spins the fan all the time and the pc power&cooling psu is not exactly quiet

Hmmm, I can't see how you'll be able to put the rad outside of the case because the tube can't be removed so it'll be hard to have part of the cooler outside the case and the rest (the cpu block and pump) inside.

yup, i figured on them not being able to be removed, but i'm also figuring the makers have given some flex in the tube length to accomodate as wide a range of cases as possible, which may lead to the possibility of mounting out the top, or the side and building a custom housing for it, with an air intake duct....
Just bashing some thoughts around at the moment, and these looked interesting

Mounting it at the top might be a good idea. The ECO can accomodate two fans but for silence, I wouldn't recommend sticking with the stock one. I'm currently trying it with two stock fans and the noise is horrific. Both are running at 1800RPM though.

are they 120's ? ... try Scythe GentleTyphoons, those are quite good noise wise.
I was hoping if i could get it outside the case, then a custom shroud that draws air in from the side might be the way to go, with the fan mounted on the exhaust side of the rad, pulling the air through.
