Hi,
I'm building a new system with the following specs, but lookign around i'm unsure which PSU to get
I'd quite like a modular one although it isn't a major concern.
I've heard recently that hiper psu's have a tendancy of burning out within the first 6 months :/
here's my system specs
Asustek S775 nForce 570SLI ATX Audio Lan (P5NSLI)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Socket 775 2.4GHz
QuietPC SCYTHE Ninja-Plus Heatpipe
CT2KIT12864AA667 2x1GB PC2-5300 NonECC CL5
XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB DDR3 PCIE Dual DVI HDTV OUT (will get a 2nd at a later date)
Thermaltake Soprano SECC Silver, Window
Sony 18x DVD+/-RW/12X RAM silver
Microsoft Win XP Media Centre 32B OEM & vista upgrade coupon
Total £751.40 inc vat and delivery
i'm buying most of this order from **** as didnt quite have everything i wanted at aria, plus the recent changes or company restructure they are having caused me murders with my last order.
Any reccomendations for a good reliable PSU? and would i need more than 500W?
thaks in advance for any advice and comments
**** !
Dont ever say that word again  o/j
Welcome to the forum.
Hmm.. well a 500wat PSU would do fine.
Iv had one of the following PSU in my other computer and it works fine, not had any problems with it at all.

hmmmm
bit of a cheap psu though.... i've been reading up and quite a few people have said lower end psu's have been dieing all over the place and taking half their systems with them.
how long have u been using this psu?
ideally i want the OCZ 600w psu but its out of stock almost everywhere :/
Hi,
The PSU has been in my other computer for just under a year now.
I also have the OCz 600wat in the pc im using now :P
Seems i have everything you want lol.
Same again, another great PSU, no problems with it so far.

from my searching over the last few hours all i can find for the OCZ is great reviews, so i think i'll go with that.
any advice or reccomendations on the rest of my system specs?

If you want something cheap yet good quality go with this bad boy.

Hiper make some quality PSU's :)
As for your PC, very nice. It's just a shame to build such a sweet machine then bottle neck it with such a weak graphics card :?
could always go for overkill and get the enermax galaxy 8)
mmmmm galaxy... why have cotton, when you can have silk...

From a lot of review's i've read, hiper are just like Antec lately, PSU's burning out left, right and center.
As for my gfx card, i was under the impression it was good?
what would u reccomend?
I'm not a hardcore gamer, just play the odd game and a bit of WoW
Seasonic s12 600 if you want quality, i have one in my gaming rig and it powers that no problems so it will be fine in yours :D

funny you should say that, it's what i've just ordered :P
for some reason i'm still drawn towards the ocz psu, but there was only 1 place on the net i could find this in stock and it was extremely overpriced, so i went with the S12 600W :)
Only problem with my order is they won't be getting win xp media centre in stock for a couple of weeks, so i'll have to use my version that 'fell of back off t'internet' for the time being :(
any comments on my gfx choice??? somebody said it was letting my system down???

My mate has a Seasonic 600w PSU, lovely looking thing, great quality too. But the £100 price tag on it was just too much for my wallet!

Well i guess it depends what you will be using your pc for?
If its going to be used for something like music production / video editing etc then your gfx card will be fine, in fact its overkill.
If its a gaming pc then yes its a bit weak, the rest of the pc is getting on for top end, or very nearly, yet the graphics is \"average\" adding another will beef it up a bit but personaly i don't see the point of sli-ing 2 mid range cards i would suugest, when funds allow, sell the 7600gt and get a beefier single card, 8800gts or similar for around £200ish.
I would also suggest faster memory, 6400 at least.
