Hi,
Need some help with a problem removal please !!
I'm running Win 7 and use the all in one codec pack compiled by shark007 which has been sound so far.
I also have AVG free edition but recently it has picked up that the win 7 codecs are trojans and as such has auto removed them. I have then tried to uninstall the codec package via program uninstall but it only shows 'repair' which I've run but it hasn't fixed it.
I've now excluded the path in AVG as from checking over the net me thinks its a false positive.
I got hold of a new version of the codec package but when I try to install it it says that I must remove current one, but I cant remove it. :(
Anyone know of a decent bit of software that can remove partial programs? or is there a way to manually do it?
Look forward to the advice.
Cheers

well the only way around it may be to delete the entries in the registry.

But becarefull a mistake could render you needing a reinstall

AVG can probably restore the files IF it placed them in the "Virus Vault".

Open up the User Interface, click the History tab and select Virus Vault.

Find the files and select "Restore".

I hope this works for you; and if so, a rep point would be nice!!

Sorry GG, removed the entries in the registry and then re-installed and it worked a treat so didnt try the restore in AVG.
Thanks anyway pal.

You can uninstall it from the main Admin screen for Sharkies codecs itself. Yep that's right from the screen that you use to configure the codecs as I went round this cycle of Add/Remove Programs is repair only but the upgrade won't install till the old codecs have been removed sometime ago.
